Make an Impact with Healthcare Technology Jobs That Matter

The Director of Mechatronics will lead the mechatronics team to perform hardware design electrical mechanical and electronics systems engineering for our Pneumatic Tube Systems (PTS). This role will define maintain and execute the mechatronics development process and roadmap in conjunction with product management.

Make an impact

Product Development

  • Perform all mechatronics engineering including electronics electrical and mechanical for Pneumatic Tube Systems (PTS) including but not limited to: Carriers stations transfer units blowers sensors control boards all hardware
  • Mechatronics architecture aligning local and global commonality across the transport automation product line
  • Own the mechatronics engineering development process
  • Responsible for product safety and certifications i.e. UL
  • Create technical content for assembly maintenance troubleshooting and installation of products
  • Develop PTS system topologies and requirements for system design
  • Develop PTS system acceptance criteria for commissioning
  • Estimate proposed engineering projects for scope time materials and costs
  • Project management of engineering projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Product Technical Support

  • Lead the engineering team to resolve all Tier 3 issues related to mechatronics.

Engineering Team Leadership

  • Create and maintain an open and collaborative work environment in accordance with Swisslog core values competence collaboration commitment and clarity
  • Coach mentor and develop the engineering team
  • Create and maintain a department succession plan to ensure business continuity
  • Create and manage department budget
What you need to succeed
  • BS of Engineering in electronics electrical or mechatronics.
  • 10 years of electromechanical engineering experience
  • 5 years engineering management experience leading teams 5-15 engineers
  • Proven engineering leadership capability developing and mentoring engineering team
  • Strong written and verbal communication up down and across the organization
  • Capable to estimate plan and project manage projects up to $1M dollars
  • Basic understanding of business finance and business case development
  • Experience of product development through two cycles of the complete product life cycle from cradle to grave for a mechatronics system
  • Data analysis
  • Root cause analysis 8D and 5 Why
  • Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis DFMEA
  • Familiar with product testing and validation

Desirable but not Essential:

  • 6 sigma green belt / black belt
  • Experience with the health care industry
  • Experience with transport automation

Salary range for this position is $135000 - $170000 plus bonus. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skillset. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical / dental / vision insurance tuition reimbursement disability 401k matching (up to 8%).
