Job Overview
Design Hire is seeking a Director of Construction and Infrastructure to lead critical infrastructure operations maintenance strategies and facility performance for a leading organization in the data center industry. This leadership role will oversee essential electrical and mechanical systems drive preventive maintenance initiatives and manage budgets to ensure reliable efficient and cost-effective operations. The ideal candidate brings extensive data center infrastructure experience strong technical leadership and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the performance reliability and lifecycle management of critical facility equipment including HVAC cooling and other mechanical systems supporting data center operations.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance programs equipment inspections troubleshooting and corrective repairs to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
- Collaborate with electrical facilities and operations teams to monitor infrastructure performance address system deficiencies and support integrated facility operations.
- Manage maintenance budgets evaluate service contracts monitor expenditures and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency without compromising system reliability.
- Review building system alarms operational data and maintenance records to identify recurring issues recommend improvements and support compliance with applicable safety standards and facility requirements.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience supporting data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems.
- Strong technical understanding of critical facility environments and the operational requirements of mission-critical infrastructure.
- Experience with HVAC equipment cooling systems and mechanical plant operations in large-scale facilities.
- Familiarity with electrical infrastructure including UPS and power distribution systems generators and transformers.
- Working knowledge of fire protection systems fire alarms and building management systems (BMS).
- Experience developing maintenance plans coordinating contractors and managing equipment service schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance budgets control costs and evaluate operational performance.
- Formal training or certification in electrical systems is preferred; strong troubleshooting communication and cross-functional coordination skills are essential.
