DIGITIZATION ASSOCIATE Libraries to contribute to imaging activities for digitization; perform imaging of paper-based materials; convert documents to TIF and other formats; use OCR and image processing applications; conduct quality control; and meet production goals and deadlines. The position collaborates with staff and vendors on digitization projects; applies appropriate imaging practices; and operates various capture hardware and software. Responsibilities include image processing metadata embedding file preparation troubleshooting and project tracking. The position also supports team workflows participates in professional development and collaborates with staff across the Libraries to solve problems and improve efficiencies.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of two years of related experience in digital imaging scanning or cultural heritage materials; technical experience with digital imaging equipment and related software; interest in learning and using new technologies; strong attention to detail organization analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage competing priorities and work independently; strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal and service skills and ability to collaborate effectively; flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment; commitment to a diverse inclusive and respectful workplace; and ability to lift 40 lbs. push/pull loaded carts up to 150 lbs. and perform physical tasks including bending squatting reaching and handling library materials.

This is a full-time (35 hrs/wk.) position. The schedule is Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (actual schedule to be determined)

This is a union position. Employees are covered by the collective bargaining agreement between the MIT Libraries and American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Council 93.
