Job Summary

The Senior DSP Engineer will design model simulate implement and optimize advanced digital signal processing algorithms for embedded systems. The role combines algorithm development with production implementation on embedded processors requiring strong expertise in C/C Python or MATLAB signal processing fundamentals and embedded systems.

The position will lead technical design discussions define DSP system architecture make hardware/software partitioning decisions and collaborate with hardware firmware and systems engineering teams to integrate and validate DSP solutions on target hardware.

The role also includes technical mentorship code and design reviews algorithm verification strategic planning and research into new algorithmic solutions to support long-term product development.

Responsibilities

Algorithm Development & Prototyping

  • Design model and simulate advanced signal processing algorithms such as filtering FFTs modulation and demodulation.
  • Use Python or MATLAB for mathematical modeling and algorithm simulation.
  • Research novel algorithmic solutions to address emerging product requirements.

Production Implementation

  • Write review and optimize production-ready C/C code for embedded processors such as DSPs and ARM processors.
  • Optimize fixed-point arithmetic processing latency and memory footprint.
  • Transition complex DSP algorithms from mathematical concepts to production hardware.

System Architecture

  • Lead technical design discussions.
  • Define DSP system architecture.
  • Make technical decisions regarding processor selection and hardware/software partitioning.
  • Contribute to long-term technical roadmaps.

Cross-Functional Integration

  • Collaborate with hardware firmware and systems engineering teams.
  • Integrate DSP code with embedded systems.
  • Debug complex low-level system issues.
  • Validate end-to-end performance on target hardware.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Review engineering code and design documentation.
  • Mentor mid-level and senior engineering team members.
  • Establish rigorous standards for testing and algorithm verification.
  • Serve as a technical lead or architect for multidisciplinary engineering initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 8 years of professional industry experience in DSP algorithm development and implementation.
  • Exceptional proficiency in C and C for embedded systems.
  • Deep understanding of core digital signal processing fundamentals.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with MATLAB or Python including SciPy/NumPy for mathematical modeling and algorithm simulation.
  • Proven experience taking complex DSP algorithms from mathematical concepts through production hardware.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline with a focus on signal processing radar or communications.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with bare-metal programming environments.
  • Experience developing signal processing pipelines using GitLab.
  • Experience serving as the primary technical lead or architect for major multidisciplinary engineering projects.
