Job Summary

Job Summary:Help keep Central Florida moving by maintaining the buses that serve our community. LYNX is seeking a Diesel Fleet Technician B also known as a Technician B to perform preventative maintenance diagnose mechanical problems and repair transit buses and related equipment. Responsibilities include servicing engines transmissions brakes steering suspension basic electrical systems and air conditioning position works alongside higher-level technicians on complex repairs and assists with road calls and vehicle recovery when needed. The successful candidate brings experience in transit or heavy vehicle maintenance strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to safe reliable fleet operations. This is a safety-sensitive position is considered safety-sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Substance Abuse Program Policy for Safety Sensitive Functions:Completes scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on all systems and safety equipment on transit coaches for safe out ordinary mechanical hydraulic or structural maintenance repairs and the source of or replaces defective parts or makes changes as difficult or unusual problems to higher grade employees for guidance or field repairs on road failures and tows buses if and repairs on road failures and tows buses if engines: replaces all major engine components including cylinder headsReplaces transmission; replaces all external engine/transmission assemblies and and repairs air systems and components and relines and replaces all steering and suspension basic electrical diagnoses and repairs on electrical systems; replaces components. Performs major repairs component replacement and Schedule A and C inspections on wheelchair minor repairs and replaces A/C other duties as may be required or Qualifications:High School diploma or GED plus three years experience in transit or heavy vehicle maintenance and one year of technical school; or an equivalent combination of education training and possess and maintain a current Florida CDL permit/license Class B with Passenger endorsement and Skills and Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the to work with limited to bend stoop walk stretch kneel and lift 50 to work as part of a to work days nights weekends and to pass a DOT physical and drug to work in open bays inside buses and outside in varying weather to handle and use commercial cleaners and toxic materials to perform to provide own to effectively communicate in English both orally and in writing. Ability to exhibit a professional courteous demeanor. Ability to work in a diverse communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with those encountered in the course of work using principles of excellent Environment and Special Considerations:Employees in this position must comply with all requirements of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regarding the testing of safety sensitive employees. This position is considered safety-sensitive under FTA drug and alcohol regulations (49 CFR Part 655).LYNX provides the community with much needed public transportation and it is important for the Agency to resume its services as quickly and as safely as possible in the event of any natural technological or human-caused emergency or disaster.
