This is an onsite position in either State College PA Ft. Meade MD or Aurora CO.

What You Will Do

As a DevOps Software Engineer you will play a critical role in supporting the development deployment and maintenance of cutting-edge defense systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that enable mission success.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the development life cycle of platform architectural design deployment and debugging.

Building and maintaining release pipelines to enable fast secure delivery of critical software to production environments.

Developing and maintaining sound version control practices using Git including branching and merging strategies.

Serve as a technical lead for an Agile team and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies. Participate in all team ceremonies including planning grooming product demonstration and team retrospectives.

Automating release deployments across development test staging and production environments using scripting languages and automation toolkits.

Setting up new sites and applications via configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible.

Maintaining and upgrading documentation and tracking tools including Confluence and Jira.

Analyzing service stacks and recommending improvements for performance reliability and scalability.

Collaborating with stakeholders to bridge development and operational requirements.

Setting up and configuring continuous integration environments using tools like Jenkins containerization and Kubernetes.

Leveraging programming languages such as Python Ruby Perl and Java in development and automation tasks.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Engineering (e.g. Computer Electrical Mechanical Aerospace) or Computer Science and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.

Experience with Git for version control and Linux environments (e.g. RHEL 6/7/8 RHCSA/RHCE CentOS).

Experience with Windows system administration system monitoring instrumentation resiliency and performance.

5 years of experience working in an Agile development environment.

Experience integrating Jenkins/Bamboo Docker and Kubernetes for automated deployments.

5 years of experience managing and monitoring AWS cloud and virtualized servers in a Platform as a Service (PaaS) environment.

Experience with caching technologies (Memcache Active MQ Redis APC etc.) Experience with MySQL (Clusters Replication and Tuning) and Elasticsearch (Kibana a plus) Knowledge of security practices networking protocols firewalls PCI compliance etc.

5 years of system architecture required with a demonstrated ability to read the code and understand the coding logic to assist in troubleshooting

Familiarity with software development life cycle models agile and DevOps programming methodologies.

Experience in object oriented programming and experience in at least one programming language such as Ruby C C GO Python or Java.

Experience acquiring in-depth understanding of large complex software systems to isolate defects reproduce defects assess risk and understand varied customer deployments.

Ability to successfully work with customers developers testing project management and support staff.

Active and transferable U.S. government-issued TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience automating network infrastructure configuration using Software Defined Networking.

Understanding of SLA requirements and high-availability architectures performance optimization and monitoring techniques.

Experience architecting and developing best practices for software build tools (e.g. Gradle Maven ANT Shell) and continuous integration tools (e.g. Jenkins Bamboo).

Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Amazon Web Services VMWare Puppet Chef and Ansible.

Experience working cross-functionally across multiple teams.

The salary range for this role is 86800 USD - 165200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
