The RoleUnder the direction of the Director ofIndividual Giving and Special Events the DevelopmentandDonor EngagementManager plays a key role in managing annual fund campaigns donor stewardship and events within the Development Department. This is an ideal position for aproactivedonor-centric technically savvy and detail-oriented candidate who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative and dynamic environment. The position also manages theDevelopmentand Donor DatabaseCoordinatorindata entrydatabasemanagementand donor stewardshipefforts.
Scope
Annual Fund Campaigns
- Implement and evaluate the organizations annual fundraising campaignsincludingdraftingcompelling solicitation letters developing segmented mailing listsand campaign timelines working withJVSMarketingteamtodisseminatecampaign communications working with outsidevendorsand overseeingdonation tracking for Development Operations team.
- Identifytrends in giving patterns to inform direct mail solicitations andadaptannual fund strategies as needed to reach general campaign goalsin partnership with the Director ofIndividual Giving and Special Events.
- Design and implement database tracking systems in Salesforce that support donor engagement and fundraising growth including engagement plans prospect research portfolio andmovesmanagementand mailing list acquisition.
- Support the ongoing maintenance of audience tracking and list management systems to ensure efficient reporting for mailings and e-communications.
- Ensure the development and upkeep of portfoliosand management of portfolio tasksfor frontline fundraisers; implement reporting and tracking systems to support annual cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
- Managepipelineofnewdonors;ensuring that all notable donors are stewarded ina timelyandappropriate manner.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop an annual calendar online giving strategy and high-impact marketing materials to support regular donor communications and solicitations ensuring messaging branding and campaignobjectivesare aligned across channels.
- Collaborate with Marketing to supportstrategy planning and execution ofprogram alumni engagement and campaigns.
Donor Stewardship & Recognition
- Oversee donor acknowledgement process and donor recognition; ensure templates are updated on a quarterly basis and customized based on donor or audience.
- Create and implement a dynamic stewardship calendar with a variety of written materials and special communications that provide a steady and positive message of gratitude including but not limited to annual Thank-a-thon holiday cards thank you notes etc.
- Responsible for all donor stewardship initiatives:
- Support front-end fundraising portfolio managerswith research cultivation outreach andtracking oftasks.
- Assess and design stewardshipplanannually.
- Oversee project management ofall activities in Salesforce.
- Writecustomized acknowledgement letters for all donors ensuringall donors receive a timely acknowledgementfortheir gifts.
- Lead the development and coordination of other donor stewardship and cultivation activities as needed: quarterly major donor reports donor facing volunteer events meetings with institutional funders or prospectssmall eventsetc.
- Respond to donor and staffinquiries as needed.
- Exercise discretion and confidentiality withregardsto donor matters.
Event Planning
- In collaboration with the Director ofIndividual Giving and Special Events plan and execute all logistical aspects of JVSs premier annual major fundraising event Envision as well as small events throughout the year.
- Support development activities to steward donors to attendspecialevents.
- Support event project management activities including but not limited to; drafting event landing pagessystem integrationssponsorship outreachand deliverable tracking ticket registrationdrafting invitations creating segmented mailing lists working with vendorsetc.
- Additionalevent support including attending committee meetingsas needed.
- Lead writer to design donor communications: email direct mail acknowledgement letters thank you cards special event materialswhile partnering with Marketing to ensure consistency in voice brand and organizational messaging.
- Contribute to design of annual appeal solicitation.
- Designscriptsforongoing stewardship calls and emails.
- In coordination withtheDirectorofIndividual Giving and Special Eventsmanagerelationship with printing partner to coordinate orders.
- Support development department budget by tracking expenditures.
- Answer donor inquiries.
- Review and support development revenue tracking.
- Manage giving inbox.
MinimumQualifications
- Minimum35years of experience in nonprofit fundraising development operations or a related role requiring donor communicationsand stewardship CRM/data management campaign coordination and strong project management skills.
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills. Consistently respectfuldependableand reliable; inspires trust.
- Self-starter with strong independent judgmentdiscretionand critical thinking; ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team and to stay focused underpressure.
- Innovative and creative approach to projects and problemsolution; suggests logical realistic solutions based on data and best practices; knows when to consult.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects in a very fast-paced performance-oriented environment while proactively coordinating with cross-functional partners to meet shared deadlines and priorities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to master new tasks quickly.
- Excellent communications skills including the ability to write and edit polished communications for board donors and volunteers; able to clearly communicate ideas and solutions persuasively; adjusts communication style to best suit audience; collaborates effectively with cross-functional partners and incorporates feedback to strengthen communications and achieve shared goals.
- Comfortable learningnew technologiesand software platforms; able to troubleshoot issues and suggest improvements.
- Strong data management experience (preferably Salesforce)
- Experience managing a large portfolio of donors(preferablyin Salesforce)
- Experience with direct mail campaigns donorrelationsand/orevent planning.
PreferredQualifications
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Salesforce NPSP or similar CRM databaseincluding but not limitedto:modeling running reports data analyzation designing dashboards tracking oversight and support of tasks for front linefundraisers.
- 1-2 years of supervision experience.
- Experience in moves management of a large portfolio of donors.
