What You Will Do

  • Use SolidWorks to create concept models and translate approved concepts into accurate detailed production drawings.
  • Design and draft custom and standard products in accordance with company drafting standards.
  • Coordinate with architects engineers customers and internal partners to confirm product and structural requirements.
  • Calculate dimensions material requirements weight limitations and equipment needs.
  • Prepare and review sketches with the engineering team before developing final CAD designs.
  • Identify potential manufacturing or operational issues and revise designs to improve function quality and manufacturability.
  • Ensure final designs comply with applicable regulations specifications and quality standards.
  • Create and maintain build books product manuals diagrams layouts and step-by-step production documentation.
  • Generate and review bills of material for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review peer drawings and designs for completeness consistency and accuracy.
  • Support sales with product specifications and custom-order questions and assist engineering with new-product development and product improvements.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable computer-aided design software.
  • Working knowledge of building manufacturing or production processes.
  • Ability to interpret drawings specifications measurements and technical requirements.
  • Strong spatial reasoning mathematical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize multiple assignments and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the judgment to clarify requirements before proceeding.
  • A collaborative professional approach when working with engineering production sales customers and outside partners.

What Success Looks Like

  • Drawings models bills of material and build documentation are complete accurate and production-ready.
  • Design risks or missing requirements are identified early and resolved before release.
  • Internal partners receive timely reliable technical support and clear documentation.
  • Standards are followed consistently and process-improvement ideas are practical and well considered.
