Job Summary
You will serve as a DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN in the BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY of NAV POSTGRADUATE DENTAL SCHOOL.
- You will be responsible to operate and maintain the laboratory porcelain ovens vacuum investing equipment burnout ovens centrifugal metal casting machines CAD computers milling machines 3D printers and related fixed Prosthodontic lab equipment.
- You will design and fabricate complex fixed and removable prostheses (including implant prostheses) demonstrating mastery of both traditional and Computer-Aided-Design (CAD)/Computer-Aided-Manufacturing (CAM) methods.
- You will design and present highly technical advanced dental laboratory technique courses to technicians and prosthodontic resident dental officers.
- You will serve as the fixed prosthodontics technical expert technician and instructor.
- You will plan and organize work schedule and production deadlines for the Fixed Prosthodontics Section.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD) the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- Must be a Certified Dental Technician in Fixed Prosthetics.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Certification in Digital Workflows is highly desired.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience using dental laboratory materials such as impression materials plasters stones hydrocolloids waxes metals acrylics porcelain and similar materials.
- Experience utilizing laboratory equipment such as hand tools dental lathes engines and hand pieces furnaces casting machines presses flasks and related equipment.
- Experience using precision instruments such as articulators surveyors and microanalyzers
- Experience constructing dental prosthetic appliances.
- Experience utilizing dental CAD/CAM software and hardware to design and fabricate complex restorations.

Two and a half full years of graduate education
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of specialized experience.
