Job Description

Join the Naval Nuclear Laboratorys Cybersecurity Operations Center and contribute directly to the protection of the IT environment that supports the Naval Reactors this role you will work in a dynamic technically diverse environment alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals. Youll gain hands-on exposure to enterprise security tools real-time threat monitoring and incident response activities that safeguard critical mission systems. Day to day includes but is not limited to:

  • Monitor and respond in real time to security tools (SIEM IDS IPS firewalls EDR) networks and systems to identify potential incidents threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Perform initial triage and investigation to assess and respond to possible security events.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity analysts engineers and cross-functional IT teams to strengthen the organizations security posture.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with security systems and tooling.
  • Represent cybersecurity professionally on cross-functional IT project teams.
  • Support operations within a 24x7 Security Operations Center (SOC).

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; or
  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

Preferred Skills

  • Degrees in Cybersecurity Computer Science Computer Engineering or AI are preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity methodologies processes and technologies such as threat hunting phishing analysis data loss prevention log analysis SOAR and SIEM administration.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security tools and services including Microsoft Sentinel Defender XDR Azure Automation and Azure Policy.
  • Experience in two or more of the following areas: Intrusion Prevention Systems SIEM EDR/XDR firewalls malware analysis digital forensics incident response or operating system/network exploitation concepts.
  • Previous professional or intern/co-op experience in cybersecurity or IT.
  • Excellent writing communication analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal organizational and customer service skills.

Pay Range

$63900.00 - $97800.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion LLC (FMP) a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory Kenneth A. Kesselring Site and Naval Reactors Facility and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology provided technical support and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nations submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
