About the Position

The Customer Service Specialist 2 of the Financial Aid Department provides quality customer service to students and the public in the Financial Aid Services Center (FASC) and provides support and serves as back up to the Office Support Supervisor for FASC-related duties. The position also provides administrative support to the department by processing payroll travel and purchasing requests and forms. This position reports to the Asst. Director of Financial Aid Client Services and represents the department professionally in first contact follow through and ongoing assignments and responsibilities within the campus community and with outside constituents. The Customer Service Specialist 2 is responsible for complex advising independently or with minor assistance using Banner Financial Aid and OnBase.

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent AND three years of progressively responsible experience in office/clerical secretarial bookkeeping accounting or general administrative work.
  • Strong technical skills including ability to become proficient with software applications with limited training.
  • Ability to complete administrative tasks with attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively provide services to people of diverse backgrounds and social identities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines in a work environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and defuse agitated situations using effective problem-solving skills and appropriate communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Excel Word Outlook and video conferencing platforms.
  • In accordance with federal regulatory requirements the incumbent must be in good standing on any outstanding Federal Title IV loans.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience in higher education.
  • Work experience with student financial aid procedures.
  • Experience with Banner financial aid software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar software.
  • Knowledge of payroll or similar earnings program or activity.
  • Experience with hiring procedures and onboarding new employees.

Salary$3941 - $5129/month depending on qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for overtime.
