Custodian

Under general supervision the Custodian performs a wide variety of cleaning maintenance and setup duties to ensure university buildings classrooms restrooms offices residence halls and event spaces are clean safe sanitary and well-maintained. Responsibilities include routine custodial work special project cleaning minor maintenance and event support. This role ensures a safe and healthy environment for students faculty staff and visitors.

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping mopping vacuuming dusting and disinfecting surfaces in classrooms offices restrooms and common areas.
• Empty and sanitize trash and recycling bins.
• Maintain and restock supplies in restrooms and other facilities.
• Clean windows mirrors and other glass surfaces.
• Respond to special cleaning requests and emergencies as needed.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment effectively and safely.
• Report maintenance issues or hazards to the supervisor promptly.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
• Assist with setup and take down for university events as required.
• Collaborate with the custodial team to support overall operations and special projects.
• Participate in ongoing training and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
• Physical ability to perform tasks that include lifting bending and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.

Starting Rate is $14.75
