Custodian

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean safe sanitary and welcoming environment throughout university facilities. This position performs routine cleaning and custodial duties in classrooms offices restrooms hallways common areas and other campus facilities while following established safety and sanitation procedures.

Schedule: Mon-Fri 2pm-10:30pm

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms offices restrooms hallways lobbies stairwells and common areas.
• Sweep mop vacuum scrub and maintain floors and carpets.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms including toilets sinks mirrors fixtures and floors.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste.
• Dust and wipe down furniture desks windowsills doors and other surfaces.
• Clean windows glass doors and other glass surfaces as assigned.
• Refill restroom and facility supplies including soap paper towels toilet tissue and other materials.
• Assist with floor care including stripping waxing buffing and carpet cleaning as needed.
• Maintain custodial closets equipment and supplies in a clean and organized manner.
• Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and operating custodial equipment.
• Report maintenance concerns safety hazards damaged equipment or facility issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with room setups special events and campus activities when needed.
• Follow university safety security and sanitation policies at all times.
• Perform additional custodial duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous custodial janitorial housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures chemicals and equipment is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
• Must demonstrate professionalism when working around students faculty staff and visitors.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend stoop kneel reach push and pull throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Ability to safely operate standard custodial equipment and cleaning tools.
