MAJOR DUTIES:The CNA/MA provides shift coverage medical management and case management of clients in the Crisis Triage and Stabilization Program. This position provides clinical services to agency providing these services the incumbent performs the following duties:

  1. Obtaining a wide range of information from prescribers and nurses about patient conditions treatment plans and suggestedactivities;
  2. Recording vital signs including blood pressure pulse temperature and respiration rate as requested bystaff;
  3. Noting observations of patient behavior including complaints or physical symptoms to nurses;
  4. Observing the patient and surroundings assists the nurse to assess the progress of the patient as well as any needs the patient might have for medical intervention. The certified nursing assistant will also observe and remove any potential hazards which could causeaccidents;
  5. Perform tasks as assigned by the charge nurse including but not limited to taking vital signs capturing residents weights and collectingspecimens
  6. Stay up to date on CNA training and facility policy andprocedure
  7. Documents actions by completing forms reports logs and records per CTS Unit Policy
  8. Protects organizations value by keeping patient informationconfidential
  9. Maintains work operations by following policies andprocedures
  10. Complete all job duties while following required infection control procedures including but not limited to thorough hand washing proper use of personal protective equipment and proper disposal of soiledmaterials.
  11. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities reading professional publications participating in professional organizations and maintaining licensure
  12. Complete all requirements for in-servicetraining
  13. Develops treatmentreferrals;
  14. Infection control. Every medical employee is responsible for infection control but because of the constant contact the CNA/MA has with patients it is critical for the CNA/MA to know and follow proper protocol in avoiding the spread of germs and spores which transportdisease;
  15. Intakepaperwork;
  16. Provides dischargeplanning;
  17. Completes charting requirements per programpolicy;
  18. Other duties asassigned.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
  1. High school diploma orequivalent;
  2. Current MA HCA or CNA credential in the state ofWashington;
  3. Must have a strong commitment to the right andability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful adequate competent and continuous supports and services.
  4. Be willing to seek to understand each individuals unique circumstances and personal preferences and goals and incorporate them into the crisis response to help individuals regain a sense ofcontrol.
  5. Current CPR/1st Aid certificationrequired;
  6. Have a strong understanding of recovery and resilience the value of partnerships and individual choice and the balance between protection from harm and personaldignity.
  7. Interest or experience in working with individuals who are difficult to engageand maintain in traditional behavioral healthprograms.
  8. Subscribe to the philosophy of cooperation and continuity across programs andof consideration and respect forindividuals.
  9. Ability to work effectively with individuals displaying a wide range of unpleasantand/or bizarrebehaviors.
  10. Have the ability to write detailed progressnotes;
  11. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and inwriting;
  12. Greatattendance;
  13. Ability to work well withothers.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:

Incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Crisis Triage and Stabilization Program MHP supervisor and Program Director.

GUIDELINES:

MA/CNA must meet the requirements delineated by Lifeline Connections. All employees will receive trainings as required by department and agency.

COMPLEXITY:

Under supervision the incumbent supports clients who differ widely in age and socio- economic status and who may possess a variety of chronic and serious social behavioral physical and psychological problems and who are experiencing acute behavioral health crisis.

PERSONAL CONTACTS:

Contacts are with clients from all backgrounds floor staff treatment team RN MD hospital social workers and medical staff. The incumbent may also need to communicate with employers family and friends of clients. Also may occasionally come into contact with law enforcement lawyers parole officers and other court officials. All personal contacts are carried out in accordance with federal and state statues laws and regulations dealing with the confidentiality of alcohol and drug dependent client records.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the essential functions of the job the employee is regularly required to sit speak clearly hear and use hands and fingers to manipulate writing utensils and keys on a keyboard. The employee is regularly required to stand walk reach with hands or arms stoop kneel crouch and/or move a maximum of 20 lbs. Occasional heavy lifting may be required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTS:

Most working hours are spent indoors in close proximity to clients.


Salary: $22.76 - $26.57/hr DOE
