Cost Accountant

A growing industrial manufacturing company is seeking a Cost Accountant to support manufacturing operations and provide accurate cost information to leadership.
This position will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs maintaining standard costs reviewing inventory activity investigating variances and helping improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the companys costing processes.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and be comfortable working closely with Accounting Operations Supply Chain Purchasing and Project Management.
Analyze manufacturing labor material and overhead costs.
Maintain and update standard costs for manufactured products.
Review production costs and identify unusual trends or variances.
Investigate material labor purchasing and manufacturing variances.
Monitor inventory transactions and perform inventory reconciliations.
Assist with inventory valuation and costing accuracy.
Prepare recurring cost accounting reports and financial analysis.
Review bills of material routings and other manufacturing cost inputs.
Support product and project profitability analysis.
Perform cost-benefit analysis and identify opportunities to improve margins.
Partner with Manufacturing Purchasing Supply Chain and Operations to understand cost drivers.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to inventory and manufacturing costs.
Help develop and improve cost accounting procedures and internal controls.
Support budgeting forecasting and operational reporting as needed.
Assist management with special financial and cost-analysis projects.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field preferred.
2 years of cost accounting manufacturing accounting or related financial-analysis experience.
Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred.
Understanding of standard costing inventory accounting and manufacturing variances.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience working within an ERP system.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally with both accounting and operational teams.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Standard cost development and maintenance.
Inventory reconciliations and valuation.
BOM and routing analysis.
Manufacturing variance analysis.
ERP-based manufacturing accounting.
Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables lookups and data analysis.
