Job Summary
Job Overview
The Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial and accounting operations of the hotel. Their primary role is to ensure the efficient and accurate management of the hotels financial resources. This includes budgeting financial reporting cash management and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and hotel policies.
What Youll be Doing
- Prepare and analyze financial statements Month End closing and P&L report.
- Provide financial reports to the hotels management and corporate office
- Develop and maintain the hotels annual budget.
- Monitor and compare actual financial results to budgeted figures.
- Create financial forecasts and participate in strategic planning.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and revenue-enhancing strategies.
- Manage and oversee the hotels cash flow ensuring funds are available for operational needs.
- Monitor daily cash receipts and disbursements.
- Utilize financial software and systems to record and track financial transactions.
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely payment to vendors and collection from customers.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations and hotel policies.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assetsPayroll and Tax Management:
- Oversee payroll processing and tax-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal tax regulations
- Lead and manage the finance team including accountants and clerical staff.
- Provide guidance and training to staff members.
What You Bring
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is often preferred.
- Several years of experience in financial management ideally within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of local and federal financial regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
