Career Consulting Partners is proud to partner with an innovative AI tech-forward litigation law firm representing property owners and plaintiffs in complex construction defect and property damage matters across California which is seeking a Controller. The Controller leads day-to-day accounting operations and is the hands-on owner of the general ledger month-end close and internal controls. This is a high-impact seat with real complexity: case cost tracking trust/IOLTA compliance settlement disbursements and the accounting side of firm acquisitions.

• Supervise AP AR and payroll staff and own the month-end and year-end close

• Reconcile case costs between the case management system and QuickBooks

• Oversee settlement disbursement calculations (fees costs liens referral fees) for CFO/partner approval

• Maintain strict auditable segregation of client trust/IOLTA and operating funds

• Lead accounting for acquisitions including purchase accounting due diligence support and integrating acquired practices books and systems

• Produce weekly and monthly financial reports for partners and leadership

• Keep the firm audit- and State Barexam ready and continuously test and improve internal controls

• CPA license

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience including 2 years supervising staff

• Experience owning a full month-end close

• Working knowledge of trust/IOLTA accounting

• Strong QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills

• Familiarity with SmartAdvocate Filevine Litify or Needles

• M&A or Transaction accounting experience (preferred)

• Compensation Range: $100000 $150000 base plus an annual discretionary bonus
