Every purchase agreement that crosses a school districts desk carries real stakes for the district for the students wholl use the materials and for Macmillan Learning and BFWs ability to deliver on what weve promised. This role sits right at that intersection.

As Contracts & Privacy Manager on the Bids & Contracts team youll evaluate and negotiate purchase agreements for our textbooks Achieve platform access and Professional Development services across K-12 districts and Higher Ed institutions. Youll also be the person making sure student data privacy terms hold up to FERPA and COPPA standards and that our contract repository stays accurate and audit-ready long after the ink is dry.

What Youll Do

Evaluate and negotiate purchase agreements

  • Review and negotiate customer purchase agreements Master Service Agreements and terms of sale for print/digital textbooks Achieve platform access and Professional Development engagements
  • Check agreements against company guidelines
  • Confirm that licensing models subscription terms and delivery schedules/milestones line up correctly for both products and PD

Own data privacy terms

  • Evaluate and negotiate district-provided Data Protection Agreements Student Data Privacy Agreements and privacy riders
  • Ensure terms meet FERPA COPPA and internal security requirements

Work through RFPs and bid packages

  • Review legal contractual and privacy language in district RFPs and formal bid packages
  • Apply pre-approved exception language
  • Clarify delivery and service terms

Partner across teams

  • Work closely with Sales Finance Legal and Information Security
  • Resolve contract redlines in a way that protects the business while keeping deals moving

Keep the contract repository in order

  • Upload executed purchase agreements amendments DPAs and PD statements of work into the central repository
  • Tag metadata district name effective/expiration dates products purchased license quantities renewal terms liability caps accurately and consistently
  • Maintain organized audit-ready folder structures and naming conventions across active and legacy records

Build reporting that others rely on

  • Generate recurring and ad-hoc contract reports for sales leadership customer success and department management
  • Track KPIs including contract review turnaround time active deal volume backlog status and SLA performance

Flag whats coming next

  • Monitor upcoming subscription end dates and license expirations
  • Communicate renewal timelines to internal account teams before they become a problem
What Youll Bring
  • 6 years evaluating reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements or contract administration within EdTech educational publishing or K-12/Higher Ed procurement
  • Direct experience evaluating customer agreements for educational software/LMS platforms print/digital instructional materials and professional development services
  • Hands-on experience evaluating and negotiating district Data Protection Agreements and student data privacy addenda
  • Strong experience uploading indexing and maintaining metadata records in a Contract Lifecycle Management system or repository tool (such as DocuSign CLM Salesforce or Conga)
  • Proven ability to build contract status reports and track turnaround metrics
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (Track Changes redlining) and e-signature platforms like DocuSign

  • Exceptional attention to detail when auditing contract metadata and repository records
  • Ability to manage a high contract volume during seasonal back-to-school and adoption cycles
  • Clear confident communication with district procurement officers school attorneys and internal sales partners

Salary Range: $105000 to $130000/year

Physical Requirements:

Requires periods of close concentration. Must be able to multi-task concentrate in an open office work environment. . Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week as needed.

Work Location: This is a remote position with preference to those in the Austin TX area. Remote work is NOT available for those in the following locations: Alaska Arkansas Hawaii Mississippi South Dakota West Virginia Wyoming.
