Position Summary:

The Continuous ImprovementEngineer identifiesand drives opportunities to improve production efficiency by applying knowledge of producttechnology production methods procedures and equipment capabilities. This roleleads plant-wide improvement efforts by partnering with operations teams to strengthen collaboration performance productivityefficiency and profitability through effective methods and strategies.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Recruit interview hire and train new staff in the department.
  • Training of Systems including ERP on 3rd Shift.
  • Opportunities for Supervisor role Growth.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Analyze production data Operation Efficiency downtime cycle time scrap and rework labor efficiency and overhead absorption to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities in quality throughput and cost.
  • Apply 80/20 discipline to focus effort on the parts presses and processes that carry the opportunity.
  • Lead root cause analysis and structured problem solving on quality and downtime opportunities; drive countermeasures to closure rather than to a report.
  • Develop document and standardize work instructions process parameters and standard operating procedures; verify adherence and sustainment after implementation.
  • Partner with Maintenance Tooling Quality Materials and Engineering to resolve cross-functional constraints that limit plant performance.
  • Provide Production Leader-level guidance and direction to 3rd shift operators floor leaders and material handlers during the overlap window.
  • Own the 3rd-to-1st shift handoff assure accurate and timely reporting clean information transfer and coordination between departments so 1st shift starts informed.
  • Serve as the off-shift operational subject matter expert and super-user for Plant D ERP implementation.
  • Provide hands-on floor support through testing cutover go-live and stabilization including early-morning coverage when off-shift support is hardest to find.
  • Establish a consistent presence on the shop floor; communicate job expectations clearly and reinforce accountability to safety quality and productivity standards.
  • Support and enhance the Kelch Strategic Capabilities.
  • Responsible for the functionally related Kelch Operating Metrics.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in industrial Mechanical Manufacturing or Plastics Engineering or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience.
  • 25 years of experience in manufacturing engineering continuous improvement or production operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Data driven detail and problem-solving skills; working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
  • Proficiency with Excel and comfortable working with production and ERP data.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to act with urgency.
  • Capable of mentoring developing and coaching personnel.

Position may be filled at another level in the job family dependent on the experience of the candidate.

Work Schedule (3rd to 1st Shift Overlap):

  • Monday Friday 4:00 a.m. 12:30 p.m.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • 40 hours per week with flexibility to support shifts projects go-live activity as needed.
  • Indoor office and plant manufacturing work environment.
  • Plant manufacturing may experience warm temperatures.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer alternating with significant time on the production floor.
  • Minimal lifting up to 50 lbs. Bending reaching standing walking.
  • Plant manufacturing work environment requires PPE of safety toe shoes protective eye wear and hearing protection.
  • Other plant manufacturing task may require additional PPE.
