THE ROLE

M&C Saatchi World Services is seeking a strategic and highly organized Content Manager to oversee the planning governance development and optimization of content that supports communications outreach and engagement initiatives across a diverse portfolio of federal programs. Working at the intersection of content strategy communications digital publishing and audience engagement you will ensure content remains accurate accessible aligned and effective across multiple platforms and channels. You will collaborate closely with strategists writers designers UX specialists stakeholder engagement teams and program leaders to deliver audience-centered content experiences that support mission objectives and organizational priorities.

The ideal candidate combines strong editorial judgment with a deep understanding of content operations digital communications and audience behavior. They are equally comfortable managing content governance processes coordinating content development efforts and contributing to the creation of compelling content that drives engagement and supports broader communications strategies.

This is a hybrid role; however the ideal candidate will live in the District of Columbia Maryland and Virginia (DMV) region.

Key Responsibilities

Lead content planning coordination and governance efforts across digital print social and enterprise communications platforms.
Partner with strategists writers designers UX specialists and communications teams to develop content that supports campaign objectives audience needs and organizational priorities.
Manage content lifecycles from ideation and development through publication optimization maintenance and retirement.
Coordinate content creation activities across multiple channels and workstreams ensuring alignment with communications strategies and editorial priorities.
Implement and maintain content governance processes editorial standards workflows version control procedures and quality assurance practices.
Conduct content audits and reviews to evaluate accuracy relevance consistency accessibility and performance.
Manage metadata taxonomy structures content repositories and structured content frameworks to improve discoverability and content organization.
Ensure all content aligns with brand voice messaging standards accessibility requirements and plain language principles.
Support the development and management of editorial calendars content roadmaps and campaign publishing schedules.
Collaborate with social media creative and stakeholder engagement teams to identify content opportunities and emerging audience trends.
Develop content recommendations informed by audience insights analytics content performance metrics and industry best practices.
Support scriptwriting digital storytelling multimedia content development and integrated communications initiatives where appropriate.
Maintain content inventories documentation publishing workflows and governance records to support consistency and accountability.
Contribute new content ideas formats and approaches that enhance audience engagement and strengthen communications outcomes.

Key Attributes

Experience managing content operations editorial processes digital communications content strategy or related communications functions.
Strong writing editing proofreading and content organization skills.
Experience coordinating content across multiple channels audiences and stakeholder groups.
Experience utilizing AI-assisted content development research and optimization tools to enhance content quality audience engagement and workflow efficiency.
Curiosity in technology landscape and how AI is changing communications.
Strong understanding of content governance editorial workflows content lifecycles metadata management and structured content practices.
Experience developing content that supports communications strategies audience engagement objectives and brand goals.
Ability to translate complex information into clear accessible and audience-focused communications.
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across communications creative strategy UX stakeholder engagement and digital functions.
Strong understanding of SEO digital publishing best practices accessibility standards and content performance optimization.
Experience with content management systems publishing platforms content inventories and editorial planning tools.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent communication stakeholder-management and collaboration abilities.
Experience analyzing audience insights content performance metrics and engagement data to inform content decisions.
Experience supporting federal government public affairs international development or mission-driven communications programs is preferred.
Familiarity with UX writing information architecture content design or structured content models is preferred.

Location: Hybrid able to commute regularly to the Washington DC office space.
Language Requirements: Fluent written and spoken English required.
Educational Requirements: BA/BS in Communications Journalism English Marketing Digital Media Public Relations Content Strategy or a related field preferred.

Eligibility Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen (required by government contract).
Clearance Eligibility: Must be able and willing to obtain a U.S. Government Secret or Top Secret security clearance immediately upon employment.
Background Screening: Must be willing to submit to a rigorous federal background investigation which includes an in-depth review of personal finances criminal history employment history and drug use.

The salary range provided reflects the anticipated compensation for this role across our Washington DC and New York locations. Actual starting salary will be determined based on geographic location relevant experience skills and other job-related factors.
