About SailFuture Academy

SailFuture is a St. Petersburg nonprofit serving about 200 children and families a year from foster care and residential programs to international sailing expeditions and an entrepreneurship high school. We are a small agency with a whatever it takes mentality. We build things for our kids and we want someone who will build them right.

The Role

Lead a crew of 5. You will work the tools run the jobsite and own quality safety and schedule. As our building program grows this role becomes Construction Supervisor with full responsibility for projects budgets and the crew.

Some of your work will include young people so we want a leader who can teach a trade patiently and show a teenager what a good day of work looks like.

Responsibilities
  • Lead schedule and work alongside a crew of 5

  • Read plans and specs and flag conflicts before they cost us money

  • Run daily jobsite operations: materials tools equipment and subcontractors

  • Enforce jobsite safety and hold a daily toolbox talk

  • Track labor hours materials and progress against budget

  • Coordinate permits inspections and vendors

  • Keep daily logs punch lists and project photos

  • Train and coach crew members and set the standard for quality

  • Take on more planning estimating and project ownership as the role moves to Supervisor

What You Bring
  • 5 years in construction including 2 years leading a crew as a foreman or lead carpenter

  • Proven ability to manage schedule and hold accountable a team of at least 5

  • Skill in at least one core trade plus working knowledge of the others

  • Ability to read blueprints and do material takeoffs

  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards; OSHA 30 preferred

  • Valid Florida drivers license and reliable transportation

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in Florida heat

  • Ability to pass Florida Level 2 background screening (required for work around children)

Nice to Have
  • Florida contractor license

  • Marine or dock experience

  • Estimating experience

  • Experience mentoring apprentices or youth
