JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Computer Technician
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an Associate degree from an accredited college in management information systems or other technology related field.
OR
Four years of related work experience may be substituted for an Associate Degree; and high school diploma or equivalent.
- A computer industry certification.
- Two years of experience with Windows XP 2000 operating systems.
- Two years of experience with Microsoft Office XPand 2007 packages.
- Knowledge of Novell.
- Must be capable of lifting equipment up to 60lbs.
- Must have a current drivers license and vehicle.
- Communication skills.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
REPORTS TO:
Customer Services Manager
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interacts with customers in a courteous and professional manner in person over the telephone or by email.
- Performs computer installation repair work and maintenance on all computers printers scanners and other end user computer equipment.
- Inspects computer equipment reads order sheet listing user requirements and prepares equipment for delivery and installation.
- Uses call center software to open close update and maintain customer trouble tickets.
- Maintains software media CDs and hardware parts inventory (memory disk drives cables etc.).
- Documents all installation repair and maintenance work and tags all equipment.
- Ensures all installation repair and maintenance work is completed according to departmental guidelines.
- Responsible for supporting the following software: Office Professional XP 2000 and 2007. Windows OS 2000/XP and Vista.
- Contacts the Network Control Center for internal technical support.
- Responsible for monitoring the help desk queue for trouble ticket assignments.
- Supports and troubleshoots all computer problems in the schools.
- Escalates problems to the appropriate teams and to Technology and Information Systems management.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve (12) months; non-tenurable.
Evaluated by the Customer Services Manager consistent with statute code and collective negotiations agreement.
Compensation and benefits as established by the collective negotiations agreement
