The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. POSITION DUTIES

A CommitmentRecords Specialist Supervisor is the supervisory level of work establishing andmaintaining commitment records files and resolving problems in the calculationof Incarcerated Individuals commitment jail and prison sentences. Employeesin this classification ensure compliance with State laws court orders and theregulations and policies of the Department of Public Safety and CorrectionalServices. Employees interact with the public Incarcerated Individual attorneysand officials to provide information and resolve concerns. Employees in thisclassification supervise lower-level Commitment Records Specialists.

Employees inthis classification receive general supervision from a Commitment RecordsSpecialist Manager a Warden or Assistant Warden or other designatedheadquarters staff. The work may be performed in a correctional facilityenvironment.

Employees aresubject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to work on eveningsweekends and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet allminimum qualifications to be considered and to appear on the list of peopleeligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education: Graduationfrom an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalencycertificate.

Experience: Three years of experience inreviewing verifying and interpreting information in order to makedeterminations and resolve problems involving the calculation of prisonsentences in accordance with applicable laws and the regulations and policiesof the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. One year of thisexperience must be in leading the work of Commitment Records staff.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given toapplicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clearand specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • 3 to 5 years of Experience making informed work decisions in accordance with court policies and legal regulations across Circuit and District Courts to prepare judiciary paperwork including commitments and releases utilizing MDEC and OCMS.
  • 3 to 5 years as a law clerk working in the State or Federal Circuit or District Court.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached.

Personal Leave - new State employees are awardedsix (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date)

Annual Leave - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year
Sick Leave - fifteen (15) daysof accumulated sick leave per year
