The Opportunity

Solid Rock Recruiting has partnered with a commercial carpentry contractor seeking a motivated detail-oriented Estimator to join its Estimating and Sales Team.

This is an important role for someone who can go beyond completing takeoffs. The Estimator will be responsible for developing detailed and accurate estimates preparing complete bid deliverables supporting customer needs throughout the post-bid process and collaborating with company leadership and operations.

Success in this position will be measured across three areas: contracts awarded estimating productivity and the ability to maintain strong customer relationships.

What Youll Do

The Estimator will manage multiple opportunities while ensuring bids are complete accurate organized and submitted on time. Responsibilities will include:

  • Review the estimating calendar and confirm bid dates with customers.

  • Perform an in-depth review of project plans specifications and RFP requirements.

  • Complete detailed takeoffs for estimate development.

  • Obtain material and subcontractor pricing from vendors.

  • Review and compare pricing for accuracy and completeness.

  • Incorporate direct costs indirect costs support costs and overhead into estimates.

  • Determine appropriate labor production rates for estimated work.

  • Prepare accurate professional and complete RFP deliverables.

  • Participate in peer checks bid reviews and estimate presentations with management.

  • Follow up with customers regularly to obtain bid results.

  • Maintain positive relationships with customers vendors and subcontractors.

  • Track bid wins losses volume and contract awards.

  • Organize contract documents drawings estimates and project files.

  • Overlay revised drawings in OST and identify changes between plan sets.

  • Participate in project turnover meetings with management and operations.

  • Support post-bid questions scope reviews and customer requests.

What Were Looking For
  • One to four years of experience with OST/Quik Bid Buzz Bid or similar estimating software.

  • General contractor estimating experience.

  • Construction or carpentry field experience is preferred.

  • Project management experience is preferred.

  • Strong computer and software proficiency.

  • Ability to read analyze and understand construction plans and specifications.

  • Strong mathematical analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proven ability to develop strong customer relationships.

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelors degree in construction management building science or a related field is preferred.
