As a Coder you will ensure precise communication with insurance companies so that services are documented correctly and payments are processed efficiently.
Every day you will accurately translate patients medical records into standardized codes for diagnoses and treatments. Using your expertise and training you will ensure compliance with legal regulatory and organizational standards.
To be successful in this role you must combine accuracy and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of coding standards and healthcare regulations. Clear communication with providers and staff along with efficient management of records ensures claims are processed correctly and on time.
- Applies coding principals consistent with government regulatory standards payer specific guidelines and company policy.
- Codes complex office surgical and hospital professional charge for assigned providers.
- Reviews all ICD E&M CPT and HCPCS codes to ensure documentation supports all services rendered.
- Queries providers as needed when encounters lack clear or missing documentation in the medical record.
- As needed provides education to Physicians and Providers on coding and documentation.
- Assists clinic and other department staff with coding related questions pertaining to assigned providers.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year Professional fee coding experience
- Certified Professional Coder Hospital Apprentice (CPC-HA)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPCA)
- Certified Billing and Coding Certification (CBCS)
Preferred
- Two (2) years surgical professional fee coding experience
- GECB and Cerner experience
