Coal Section Supervisor

We are looking for a Section Supervisor to join our Coal Mining and Reclamation Section in the Mining Bureau. The Coal Mining and Reclamation Section is one of four sections within the Mining Bureau that are tasked with the oversight of responsible mining and reclamation in Montana. The section is responsible for such tasks as inspections application review reclamation review bond review etc. Among other tasks the Coal Mining and Reclamation Supervisor is responsible for:

Coal Mining Law Implementation;

Coal Mining Reclamation Law Implementation;

Environmental Policy Act Implementation;

Mining Bureau Consistency/Efficiency;

Staff Leadership/Communication/Management; and

Collaboration with the other Mining Bureau Sections.

The Coal Mining and Reclamation Section Supervisor gets to lead a diverse group of professionals by example creating a culture of excellence professionalism and collaboration. The supervisor gets the opportunity to serve as a mentor and role model for staff. The Coal Mining and Reclamation Section Supervisor is on the forefront of mining and reclamation review and approval in Montana.

The Coal Mining and Reclamation Section Supervisor is responsible for the implementation of agency division and bureau direction and the oversight of day-to-day operations of the section. This position leads staff to accomplish goals by clearly and effectively communicating priorities and expectations to personnel develops and coordinates annual work plans with personnel provides meaningful and timely feedback to personnel manages personnel implements the professional growth matrix and aligns section operations with DEQ strategic plans. The person in this position works with its Bureau Chief to establish direction identify strategy inform of interest/controversy and assess effectiveness of operations.
