Job Summary

Overview
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining secure scalable and reliable cloud-based solutions. This role supports business objectives by optimizing cloud infrastructure automating deployments and ensuring compliance with security and performance standards.
The position works across enterprise and research application environments helping Client build operate and continuously improve cloud platforms that are secure resilient cost-effective and aligned with operational and compliance requirements.

Core Responsibilities
Design and deploy cloud architectures across AWS and/or Azure that meet performance security availability and cost-efficiency requirements.
Architect and implement cloud networking compute storage and identity services using least-privilege access network segmentation encryption and defense-in-depth security principles.
Evaluate and recommend cloud services architectural patterns and infrastructure approaches balancing engineering capability operational cost and long-term platform sustainability.
Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using Terraform CloudFormation Ansible or equivalent technologies.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud infrastructure and application deployments including automated testing validation deployment and rollback capabilities.
Automate operational processes including patching scaling monitoring alerting and cost optimization to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.
Ensure cloud environments comply with security standards regulatory requirements and data governance policies through controls for identity management secrets management audit logging and encryption.
Monitor cloud security posture identify and remediate misconfigurations and policy violations and integrate CSPM tooling into operational workflows.
Partner with cybersecurity teams to align cloud security with enterprise threat models and regulatory frameworks including GxP 21 CFR Part 11 HIPAA and SOX where applicable.
Monitor cloud environments for performance availability and cost efficiency applying FinOps practices and resource optimization strategies.
Contribute to platform engineering standards reference architectures and guardrails that enable consistent and secure cloud adoption.
Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues participate in post-incident analysis and implement preventive improvements to reduce recurrence.

Essential Qualifications Skills and Technologies
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
3 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience in a production enterprise environment with AWS and/or Azure.
Demonstrated proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform CloudFormation Ansible or equivalent along with version control using Git.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python Bash or equivalent for automation and tooling development.
Strong understanding of cloud networking virtualization containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes and cloud security principles.
Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines and applying DevOps practices in cloud-native environments.

Preferred Skills or Experience
AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) AWS DevOps Engineer Azure Administrator Azure Architect or related cloud certifications.
Experience with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization at enterprise scale.
Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus Grafana Splunk CloudWatch Azure Monitor or equivalent tools.
Experience in pharmaceutical healthcare life sciences or other regulated industries including exposure to GxP 21 CFR Part 11 or HIPAA cloud compliance requirements.
Experience operating Kubernetes environments in production including EKS AKS or self-managed clusters and workload management.
Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Agent Reliability Engineering.
Experience working in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Background in cloud security architecture including IAM design secrets management network security groups and cloud-native security tooling.
