NON-MANAGEMENT JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Clinical Therapist
Exempt/Non-exempt: EXEMPT
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Clinical Services
Compensation Range: $54000 - $59000
Essential Functions:
1. Primarily responsible for working with youth and/or their families in an office-based setting as well as providing services within a school setting. Additionally participates in on-call hours each week to assist law enforcement and the local community with youth who have runaway or have been locked out of their home. The ideal candidate can adapt to providing services in many contexts and with youth and families that present with a wide range of concerns. Our therapists are team-oriented while also being self-motivated.
2. Provide individual group and family counseling services to youth and families between the ages of 10 and 25 that present with a wide range of concerns. Effectively provide counseling services in a school setting with middle school-aged or high school-aged youth to help them learn skills related to school issues.
3. Collaborate with community partners such as schools police departments juvenile probation DCFS case workers and mental health agencies/hospitals to serve youth.
4. Maintain client records in an electronic health record in accordance with agency standards. Provide data and reports as needed in compliance with agency requirements. Adhere to agency policy on confidential mental health records in compliance with DHS and CCBYS (Comprehensive Community Based Youth Services) requirements.
5. Provide community information and linkage to referral services for youth and their families.
6. Assist with crisis coverage as part of the 24-hour crisis response system for CCBYS as designated by the Clinical Director. Provide crisis intervention and advocacy services to at-risk youth with the purpose of family preservation reunification and stabilization while promoting healthy environments lifestyles and behaviors.
7. Position requires evening hours for sessions as well as some minimal weekend and holiday on-call coverage through the CCBYS program.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Ability Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of trauma-informed clinical practices related to working with youth ages 10 to 25 including those who have experienced complex trauma.
Ability to provide effective individual group and family counseling in both office-based and school settings.
Competence in addressing a wide range of concerns including depression anxiety substance abuse and behavioral issues.
Proficiency in collaborating with community partners such as schools police departments juvenile probation DCFS case workers and mental health agencies.
Experience in maintaining accurate and confidential client records including using electronic health record systems.
Skills in crisis intervention and advocacy with experience in a 24-hour crisis response system and promoting family preservation and stabilization.
Knowledge of trauma-informed treatment approaches and strength-based practices with a commitment to professionalism flexibility and continuous learning. Preference for candidates with CCBYS experience or bilingual skills.
Education and Experience:
A Masters Degree from an accredited program in counseling psychology social work or marriage and family therapy is required. Candidates must hold or have the prerequisites to obtain a State License such as LPC LSW LCPC LMFT or LCSW. Preferred candidates will have relevant experience working with youth and knowledge of trauma-informed treatment approaches.
Physical Demands and Other Requirements:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the essential duties listed in the job description satisfactorily. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Capable of operating standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard calculator typical business machines such as a fax machine and copier. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to have valid drivers license auto insurance and must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. The work environment characteristics include a noise level which is usually low to moderate.

Communication/ Interpersonal Skills: Consistently conveys clear accurate timely and respectful communication appropriate for the situation. Informs appropriate management staff when incident occurs or a crisis situation. Maintains professional boundaries with clients/residents staff interns volunteers and vendors. Able to successfully share skills and concepts with others and works effectively with others under time and environmental pressures.
Safety and Agency Resource Utilization: Demonstrates sound judgement and foresight in safety awareness and in daily work. Notifies in a timely manner the supervisory chain of any incidents or circumstances that need attention. Report all suspicions or allegations of abuse immediately to their supervisor. Ensures appropriate utilization of materials and resources and minimizes waste.
