Job Summary
Communication
- Works collaboratively with center leadership on the supervision and direction of nursing care and patient scheduling according to center policies procedures and objectives.
- Effectively presents information responds to questions and interacts professionally with managers employees clients vendors the public and physicians.
Patient Care
- Analyzes and evaluates nursing care to improve quality outcomes.
- Coordinates patient-care activities with surgeons and anesthesia providers.
- Assists staff in identifying and solving problems.
- Participates in patient care as needed and oversees clinical areas.
- Enforces nursing practice standards and accreditation requirements.
- Coordinates procedure scheduling with scheduling personnel.
- Serves as a liaison between patients families and the healthcare team.
- Recommends revisions to patient-care policies and procedures.
- Responds to emergency situations and maintains competency.
- Oversees nursing activities during emergencies.
- Manages patient and staff flow to reduce infection risks.
- Analyzes clinical documentation for compliance.
- Supports services in accordance with policies accreditation and regulations.
Staffing
- Monitors FTE utilization and recommends cost-effective scheduling practices.
- Assists with orientation programs for new clinical employees.
- Supports continuing education and staff development.
- Prepares and adjusts staffing schedules based on patient care needs.
- Ensures staff are cross-trained where appropriate.
- Reviews attendance records and time sheets.
- Evaluates clinical staff performance and quality of care.
- Collaborates with leadership on performance improvement opportunities.
- Interprets and enforces center policies and procedures.
Safety
- Promotes adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Implements best practices and regulations to maintain a safe workplace.
- Monitors the clinical environment for safety cleanliness comfort and efficiency.
- Oversees cleaning disinfection sterilization and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Identifies supply and equipment needs and reports deficiencies.
- Reports contracted provider service deficiencies.
- Partners with the Safety Officer to address hazards and compliance issues.
- Submits information for risk management reporting as required.
- Ensures OSHA requirements are met and supplies are available.
Financial and Materials Management
- Promotes cost containment and efficient resource utilization.
- Recommends equipment and supply purchases to support patient care within budget.
- Assists with development and implementation of capital and operating budgets (as required).
General
- Participates in committees meetings in-services and center activities.
- Provides input regarding short- and long-term goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
