Civil Engineering Intern Summer 2027

Looking to gain real-world engineering experience while youre still in school Join SPIs Summer Internship Program and work alongside experienced engineers on projects that help shape communities across Texas.

As a Civil Engineering Intern youll contribute to active projects while developing technical professional and communication skills that will prepare you for a successful engineering career.

• Assist engineers with design calculations and technical tasks.
• Support preparation of engineering drawings exhibits and reports.
• Perform drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
• Participate in field visits to observe construction surveying and site conditions.
• Assist with data collection and engineering documentation.
• Learn engineering standards design practices and project workflows.
• Collaborate with engineers designers surveyors and project managers.

Participate in SPIs Internship Bingo program designed to expose interns to multiple aspects of civil engineering through project meetings field observations surveying CAD production project management mentorship and cross-functional learning opportunities.

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering degree program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Interest in civil engineering design construction or infrastructure.
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow direction.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus but not required.

• Paid summer internship.
• Approximately 15 hours per week minimum (or as otherwise arranged).
• Primarily office-based with opportunities for field experience and occasional travel to project sites.
