The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professional Civil Engineer performing operations and maintenance (O&M) engineering duties in support of a military installation.
- Performs O and M engineering involving design and construction that encompasses the maintenance repair upgrade and operation of infrastructure facilities including utility systems utilizing professional knowledge of civil engineering.
- Plans programs budgets and executes required projects in support of assigned programs. Performs planning and design work for substantial sustainment modernization repair improvement renovations and construction projects for real property facilities including utility systems utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering.
- Manages projects for new construction renovations and improvements to real property facilities and maintains surveillance over in-house labor or construction contractors utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering and knowledge of other engineering disciplines to ensure overall compliance with project requirements. Provides consulting services and project coordination.
- Collects data and evaluates factors which affect the application of concepts principles theories and methods required to observe examine measure analyze map and describe physical and technical features and phenomena.
- Complies with health safety and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification in writing that your continued employment advances the public interest.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate valid drivers license is required for the position.
- May act as project liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required.
- May be required to serve on A and E selection boards.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (CONT)
