Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer II to join our Transportation team in Murray Utah. This is an exciting opportunity to support the planning design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects throughout Utah and the Mountain West. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on a variety of roadway and transportation projects gaining exposure to all phases of project development from preliminary design through final plans and construction support. The role will support projects for the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) local municipalities and other transportation clients. Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to major transportation improvements including roadway widening and reconstruction interchanges intersections multimodal improvements and other surface transportation infrastructure. Strong technical skills attention to detail and an interest in developing a career in transportation engineering are important for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform civil engineering design and analysis for transportation projects including roadway alignments grading drainage utilities and related infrastructure.
- Develop engineering plans specifications technical reports calculations cost estimates and other project deliverables.
- Assist with roadway and highway design for UDOT and local agency projects including new construction reconstruction widening and intersection improvements.
- Prepare and review design plans using Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD) and other engineering design software.
- Assist with the development of plan sets quantities specifications and construction documents throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support senior engineers and project managers with project coordination technical analyses field investigations and construction support.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic transportation planning structures drainage geotechnical environmental and survey professionals.
- Participate in meetings with clients agencies contractors and project stakeholders as needed.
- Assist with field visits site assessments construction observations and resolution of design-related issues.
- Apply applicable AASHTO UDOT MUTCD local agency and other relevant design standards and criteria.
- Contribute to projects that improve mobility safety and connectivity across the Wasatch Front and throughout Utah.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS 2 years or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline and 4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting transportation roadway highway or municipal infrastructure projects.
- Experience with Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD) and/or other civil engineering design software.
- Familiarity with UDOT local agency AASHTO MUTCD or other applicable transportation design standards.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
- Strong communication technical writing organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
