The Transportation Civil Designer plays a key role in supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams by developing high-quality design and drafting deliverables for a wide range of infrastructure and electrical projects. This position requires advanced proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) OpenBridge Designer (OBM) and Civil 3D with a strong focus on accuracy efficiency and adherence to industry and client standards.
- Develop produce and modify detailed design drawings and construction documents using OpenRoads Designer (ORD) OpenBridge Designer (OBM) and Civil 3D.
- Interpret engineering sketches markups and design concepts to independently generate complete and accurate drawing packages.
- Prepare and revise plan sets profiles details and plot drawings for design submittals and construction documentation.
- Apply and enforce company client and industry CAD standards supporting consistency and quality across all deliverables.
- Coordinate closely with engineers designers and other disciplines to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.
- Utilize and maintain CAD standards templates and detail libraries to streamline production and improve drafting efficiency.
- Identify design conflicts or inconsistencies and proactively propose practical technically sound solutions.
- Perform quality control reviews of drawings to ensure completeness accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Support design development through redline incorporation field markups and as-built documentation updates.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to CAD workflows standards and best practices.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior drafters or team members as needed.
- Collaborate on projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Support compliance with all company policies safety standards and project requirements.
- Expert understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD Civil 3D MicroStation and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
- Expert knowledge in design calculations and design systems.
- Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of civil discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelors degree in drafting technology or a related field and 7 years of related experience required; OR
- Associates degree and 8 years of related experience required; OR
- 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience required.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree in drafting technology or related field; OR minimum 8 years of related experience with an Associates degree; OR minimum 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
- Advanced proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) OpenBridge Designer (OBM) and Civil 3D.
