Civil Dirt Foreman

Summary:

Supervise and coordinate activity of workers engaged in construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Examine and inspect work progress equipment and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met.
• Read specifications such as blueprints to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures.
• Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs.
• Supervise coordinate or schedule the activities of construction or extractive workers.
• Confer with supervisor managerial or technical personnel other departments or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities.
• Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities.
• Order or requisition materials or supplies.
• Locate measure and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment using measuring and marking equipment.
• Record information such as personnel production or operational data on specified forms or reports.
• Assign work to employees based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs.
• Implement and enforce safety requirements for the job. Must have completed the OSHA 30 hour construction standards training course within the last 3 years.
• Required to drive motor vehicle in performance of duties.
• Ability to walk long distances in rough or variable terrain.
• Work in extreme hot or cold environments.
• Must be able to understand and follow safety considerations herein and as applies to the activity involved.
• May be required to lift up to 80 pounds and carry objects of 50 pounds or less routinely.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Will directly supervise a crew of up to 10 workers.

Requirements:

Ability to read and interpret blueprints documents instructions and procedure manuals. Routine report writing. Effective communication skills. Implement and enforce safety standards.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma preferred one year relevant experience.
