Job Title: Information Systems Architect Advanced (Citrix Architect)
Location: 100% Remote (EST hours required)
Duration: 12 months (with possible extension)

About the Role

The State of South Carolina is seeking an experienced Citrix Architect to support a new initiative involving Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This position will focus on architecting maintaining and supporting a secure Citrix VDI environment while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

This is a mid-to-senior level position requiring deep expertise in Citrix XenServer XenDesktop VMware and Microsoft infrastructure. The resource will provide Tier 14 support lead design/architecture efforts and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Citrix environment.

This role is being filled due to resource constraints and the need to establish a fully supported Citrix VDI service aligned with security and usability goals under proper change management processes.

Scope of Work

The Citrix Architect will:

  • Design and develop a CUI VDI environment.

  • Provide technical engineering support and guidance to system administrators.

  • Deliver one-on-one training and knowledge transfer to the team.

  • Ensure systems meet security compliance and performance standards.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Provide Level-2 and Level-3 technical support for Citrix/XenApps server environments.

  • Monitor VDI platforms with tools such as Netscaler and ControlUP.

  • Manage and support:

    • VDI End-User Sessions

    • VDI Stack Infrastructure

    • Virtual sessions and Citrix services

    • XenDesktop Broker and Citrix/VMware application delivery

  • Apply software patches and system updates to Citrix environments.

  • Troubleshoot issues using structured problem-solving techniques and Citrix command-line tools.

  • Serve as the technical SME for Citrix/VDI-related issues.

  • Deploy and manage core Microsoft services including AD ADFS DNS DHCP WSUS and Group Policy.

  • Create and maintain SOPs and technical documentation.

  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through effective communication and problem resolution.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5 years Citrix administration including XenServer in a Production Environment.

  • 5 years Microsoft Windows Server & Infrastructure (AD DNS DHCP ADFS WSUS etc.).

  • 5 years in Citrix/VDI design and architecture.

  • 5 years providing Tier 1 Tier 4 support.

  • Strong expertise with Citrix XenDesktop XenServer VMware and Citrix App Layering.

  • Proficiency with Citrix command-line commands and knowledge of Citrix Ports.

  • Excellent communication (written & oral) and team training skills.

  • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot in critical environments.

Preferred Skills
  • Citrix Administration Certification.

  • Experience planning and executing large-scale infrastructure implementations.

  • Ability to develop and refine processes in a dynamic VDI environment.

  • Strong collaboration and leadership abilities.

Education
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field.

  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered.

Interview Process
  • 2 Rounds Both via Zoom (video required).
