The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Child Development support assistant assisting in the day-to-day clerical operations of the Child Development Center (CDC). The position develops implements and administers clerical aspects of the CDC that aid in providing an overall safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
- Performs clerical and administrative support of the office/organization.
- Prepares a wide variety of internal/external correspondence and reports.
- Uses multiple office automation software programs with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents.
- Maintains front desk registry sheets and refers visitors appropriately.

- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This position has been identified as having regular contact with accordance with (IAW) Public Law 101- 647 Section 231 Public Law 102-190 Section 1094 and DoD Instruction 1402.05 background checks are required.
- DD Form 2981 Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission Installation Records Check FBI fingerprint and Tier 1 with a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check will be completed on any person selected for this position. Cont.-
- Cont.-Renewal every five years of the Installation Records FBI Fingerprint and SCHR is required with annual review of DD Form 2981.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions present a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force Cont.-
- Cont.-national security and public safety. It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested submit to urinalysis testing.
- (Childcare) IAW 34-144 and DoD Certification requirements a pre-employment physical examination with a renewal at least every 3 years and specified immunizations are required.

In order to qualify you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Clerical and Administrative Support.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NK 1/ GS 4 equivalent to the next to lower grade 04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include knowledge of childcare programs and procedures related to Child Development and Youth Programs operations. Knowledge of the organizational functions and services to answer inquiries or refer to the responsible staff member. Provides technical and clerical support of the Child Development Program to include customer service and preparing a wide range of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence reports and other documents while maintaining office records.

EDUCATION: Four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business secretarial or technical school junior college college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours 45 quarter hours or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business secretarial or technical school. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e. beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the substantive programs of the organization as they relate to administrative and clerical support functions.2. Knowledge of clerical practices and office routines to coordinate the work of the office.
3. Knowledge of safety and training procedures.
4. Knowledge of the duties priorities and policies of the CDC to perform non-routine assignments such as independently shifting clerical staff in response to fluctuating workloads advising other clerical staff on preparing reports requirements for various reports filing systems and proper money handling techniques and procedures.
5. Knowledge of PCs and skill in the use of various software to accomplish the administrative work of the unit. A qualified typist is required.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with tact and courtesy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NH-2 equivalent to a GS-5 to GS-7.
