Job Summary
Paradise Unified School District is seeking a caring patient and dependable Independent Facilitation Assistant (IFA) to provide 1:1 instructional and behavioral support to a student with special education needs at Cedarwood IFA plays a critical role in supporting student access engagement and success by assisting with academic social-emotional and behavioral needs under the direction of certificated staff. This position requires professionalism discretion and a strong commitment to student safety dignity and Duties & ResponsibilitiesSpecific assignments may vary based on student 1:1 support to a student in instructional recreational and school-based activitiesAssist with implementing instructional and behavioral strategies as directed by certificated staffSupport student participation in classroom routines and learning activitiesMonitor and supervise students to ensure safety and well-being in various settings (classroom playground transitions etc.)Provide support to students with personal care needs which may include assistance with toileting and other personal care activities. Maintain a firm patient and respectful approach when supporting studentsAssist with record-keeping and documentation related to student support as assignedCommunicate effectively and professionally with teachers staff and administratorsMaintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive informationFollow all District and school policies related to student safety and welfareMinimum Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of:Proper English usage grammar spelling vocabulary and punctuationGeneral needs and behaviors of studentsAcademic subject areas and learning environmentsDistrict and school policies related to student safety and welfare
Skill and Ability to:Demonstrate proficiency in reading writing and basic mathematical skills sufficient to pass a District-designated standardized proficiency testCommunicate effectively in both oral and written formsUnderstand and follow oral and written instructionsUnderstand the needs of assigned students and respond appropriately in instructional and recreational settingsMaintain a firm patient and courteous demeanor with studentsSupervise students effectively in a variety of environmentsEstablish and maintain accurate records and filesAnalyze situations and take appropriate effective actionOperate standard office and instructional equipment including computers copiers printers and related technologyExercise tact diplomacy discretion and sound judgmentMaintain confidentiality and security of student and District informationEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with staff students and the school communityEducation & Compliance RequirementsApplicants must meet one of the following compliance requirements:Associate of Arts (AA) Degree or higher from an accredited college; ORCompletion of two years of full-time college coursework (48 semester units); ORPassage of the District-selected local assessment test for Instructional ParaprofessionalsCertificates & RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to obtain and maintain valid First Aid and CPR certification within District-required timelinesAbility to meet all District employment requirements including background clearanceTraining & ExperienceAny combination of education training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical pathway includes graduation from high school and experience working with children or in an educational or caregiving environment.
