Career Advisor Job DescriptionJob Title: Career AdvisorWage: $48000-$50000Department: Workforce Development / Career ServicesLocation: Bronx NYStatus: Full-TimePosition SummaryThe Career Advisor is responsible for preparing participants for employment training and career advancement by delivering career readiness services case management and barrier-removal support. This role provides direct participant support through intake assessment workshop facilitation interview preparation resume development training grant screening and supportive service Career Advisor works closely with the Recruitment Team and Community Partner team to ensure participants are appropriately assessed job-ready and connected to the services needed to move successfully into employment or training. This role also supports offsite events across the city proctors site safety exams and plays a key role in the departments veterans services model. Veterans are case managed through the Career Advisor function and then referred to recruitment for placement ideal candidate will have strong case management skills career readiness knowledge excellent communication skills and the ability to support a diverse participant population with professionalism and Duties and ResponsibilitiesConduct participant intake orientation and ongoing assessments to determine employment training and supportive service one-on-one career advisement and case management to support participant progress toward employment and training workshops on career readiness topics including resume writing interview preparation workplace expectations and job search participants with resume development interview coaching and overall job-readiness employment and training barriers and connect participants to appropriate resources through the Community Partner program and other internal or external participants for training grant eligibility and assist with enrollment and related regular participant follow-up to monitor progress encourage engagement and support retention in veteran participants through assessment service planning case management and referral to recruiters for job placement collaboratively with the Recruitment Team to ensure participants referred for job opportunities are prepared and appropriate for placement with the Community Partner team to coordinate referrals and help address barriers such as childcare transportation housing benefits and other support offsite events hiring events orientations and other citywide activities as site safety exams and ensure all testing procedures are followed accurately and timely and accurate case notes service records and data entry in required participant engagement referrals and outcomes in alignment with departmental goals and reporting effectively with participants employers partners and internal other related duties as QualificationsBachelors degree in human services social work education workforce development counseling or a related field; or equivalent relevant in workforce development case management career counseling or related direct service supporting individuals with employment barriers and connecting them to services and facilitating workshops orientations or group knowledge of career readiness practices including resume development interview preparation and job search verbal and written communication organizational skills and ability to manage multiple participants and to build rapport with diverse populations and provide participant-centered to work collaboratively across teams and with data entry participant tracking and case documentation to travel within the city for offsite events and service QualificationsExperience working with veterans or other priority with training grant screening enrollment or workforce-funded training with supportive service networks and community-based in a workforce development nonprofit or public service proctoring exams or managing structured participant CompetenciesCase ManagementCareer Readiness CoachingWorkshop FacilitationBarrier Assessment and ReferralParticipant EngagementCross-Team CollaborationProfessional CommunicationDocumentation and Follow-UpProblem SolvingCultural CompetenceWorking ConditionsCombination of office-based and offsite interaction with participants staff employers and community require travel throughout the city to support events and service require occasional schedule flexibility based on program or event needs.#IND1
