Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Technician (PRN) is responsible for performing electrocardiograms (EKGs) applying and processing cardiac monitors and supporting daily clinical and administrative operations. This role works closely with physicians clinical staff and patients to provide high-quality cardiovascular diagnostic services while ensuring accurate documentation patient education and effective communication of results.
- Perform and accurately record EKGs.
- Prepare patients and apply cardiac monitoring devices.
- Educate patients on the proper use and care of cardiac monitors.
- Identify and recognize cardiac rhythms and monitor abnormalities.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all diagnostic tracings and monitor reports.
- Communicate monitor results promptly and effectively with ordering and consulting physicians.
- Room patients and prepare them for examinations and testing.
- Obtain and document patient vital signs.
- Assist with patient flow to ensure efficient and timely care.
- Support physicians and clinical staff with chart preparation dictation and related patient care activities.
- Assist with patient scheduling and ensure appointments are entered appropriately in the scheduling system.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Perform general office and clerical duties as assigned.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and quality checks on cardiovascular equipment.
- Report equipment concerns promptly to Biomedical Engineering.
- Clean and maintain TEE probes and TEE probe cleaning equipment as applicable.
- Monitor inventory stock supplies and check supply expiration dates.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- One (1) year of cardiovascular clinical or related healthcare experience.
- Previous on-the-job training or completion of an Allied Health training program.
- Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) through CCI.
- Certified EKG Technician (CET) through American Allied Health.
- Additional language proficiency.
- Experience with cardiac monitoring systems and cardiovascular diagnostic testing.
- PRN (as needed) position with flexible scheduling based on departmental needs.
