The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for all research design development test and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. This team is seeking a mechanical engineer that specializes in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to utilize simulation tools to evaluate and guide the design of future camera components and technologies. As a simulation engineer on the Camera Hardware Engineering team you will take an active role in the design process and meaningfully impact the final product.

Perform Finite Element modeling and simulations using ABAQUS and other simulation software as required. nWork day-to-day with design engineers on camera design evaluation validation and optimization. nInterpret FEA results and leverage insights to provide physical explanations that identify root cause and possible solutions. nRecommend design changes to meet product performance requirements. Participate in team brainstorming for new technology development. nDevelop new simulation techniques and expand capabilities as needed.

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Applied Mechanics Material Science or similar discipline with relevant experiencenSimulation software experience using ANSYS Abaqus or relevant experience

3 years relevant industry experiencenMS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering Applied Mechanics Material Science or similar disciplinenExperience in material testing and failure analysisnBackground in solid mechanics and materials sciencenExperience with explicit dynamics and thermal simulationsnExperience in building and calibrating non-linear material modelsnExperience with electro-magnetic simulations; analysis of voice coil motors (VCM)nExperience working with adhesive joints; analyzing and predicting adhesive failure modesnKnowledge of Python Abaqus user subroutine development and iSight nANSYS Icepack and Maxwell COMSOL ANSAnExperience in CAD modeling with NX or Solidworks
