National Calibration Inc. (NCI) is looking for skilled motivated technicians who enjoy solving problems working with precision equipment and continuing to build their technical expertise.

As a Calibration Technician II youve already developed a solid technical foundation. You understand the importance of accurate measurements following procedures documenting your work and delivering quality results. Now youre ready to work more independently expand the range of equipment you can calibrate and continue developing into an advanced calibration professional.

You dont need to know everything. Were looking for people with strong fundamentals good judgment technical curiosity and the drive to keep learning.

What Youll Do

As a Calibration Technician II youll perform calibrations with increasing independence while continuing to expand your technical knowledge and capabilities.

You will:

  • Calibrate a variety of precision measuring and test equipment within your qualified disciplines
  • Set up and operate calibration standards and test equipment safely and correctly
  • Use instruments such as calipers micrometers indicators gauges multimeters and other mechanical or electronic measurement equipment
  • Interpret measurement results tolerances specifications and technical requirements
  • Accurately record calibration data and complete required documentation
  • Identify and document equipment that is outside of tolerance or produces questionable results
  • Troubleshoot measurement problems and recognize when additional investigation or assistance is needed
  • Review procedures technical specifications and manufacturer information needed to complete calibrations
  • Develop and apply your understanding of measurement uncertainty traceability accuracy and other calibration principles
  • Follow NCIs Quality System and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
  • Maintain calibration standards laboratory equipment and organized work areas
  • Communicate professionally with customers supervisors customer service and other departments
  • Assist newer technicians when appropriate and continue cross-training in additional equipment types and technical disciplines
  • Take ownership of the quality accuracy and documentation of your work

What Were Looking For

Were looking for someone who has developed solid technical skills and is ready for greater independence and responsibility.

A successful Calibration Technician II will:

  • Have previous calibration experience or comparable hands-on technical experience
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical electrical dimensional or analytical aptitude
  • Be comfortable using common precision measurement equipment
  • Work confidently with numbers tolerances specifications and technical data
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Follow established procedures while recognizing when something doesnt look right
  • Approach technical problems logically and methodically
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Communicate clearly and maintain accurate documentation
  • Be comfortable using computers and technical software
  • Take responsibility for the quality of their work
  • Be willing to continue learning and expanding their technical capabilities

Experience in calibration metrology electronics machining manufacturing quality inspection testing engineering maintenance or another precision technical field is valuable.

Equivalent technical experience and demonstrated ability are just as important to us as a specific degree or career path.

What Makes Someone Successful at Level II

A Level II technician is more than someone who can follow a calibration procedure.

You should be developing the ability to understand why you are performing each step recognize when results dont make sense and know when to investigate further or ask for assistance.

We value technicians who are curious careful dependable and willing to take ownership of their work. You wont be expected to know everything but you will be expected to keep learning.

Physical Requirements

This is an active hands-on laboratory position. Team members should be able to:

  • Work throughout the day at laboratory benches and equipment stations including periods of standing walking reaching and sitting
  • Safely handle tools instruments calibration standards and precision equipment
  • Occasionally bend kneel or crouch as needed to handle equipment
  • Safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances with assistance when appropriate
