Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CAE HPC System Administrator to support High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments used for CAE and engineering workloads.
This role will focus on Linux system administration HPC cluster management job scheduling CAE application support system automation licensing and infrastructure performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining stable and scalable HPC environments while optimizing workload execution and supporting critical engineering applications.

Key Responsibilities

HPC & Workload Management
  • Administer configure and optimize HPC job scheduling environments using IBM Spectrum LSF OpenPBS Slurm or similar platforms.
  • Configure and tune job queues resource allocation policies and scheduling strategies.
  • Monitor cluster utilization and performance and identify opportunities to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Support reliable execution of complex CAE and engineering workloads.

CAE Applications & Licensing
  • Install upgrade test and support CAE applications and simulation tools.
  • Integrate CAE applications with HPC scheduling environments.
  • Manage software licensing platforms including FlexLM and RLM.
  • Troubleshoot application and licensing issues to minimize disruption to engineering teams.
  • Support CAE tools such as Ansys LS-DYNA Nastran or similar platforms.

Linux Administration & Automation
  • Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments across HPC clusters.
  • Perform OS provisioning deployment patching and system maintenance.
  • Support automated deployments using PXE or configuration management tools.
  • Develop scripts using Bash Shell Perl Awk or similar technologies to automate monitoring and administrative tasks.
  • Maintain system logs monitoring processes documentation and operating procedures.

Infrastructure & Performance
  • Troubleshoot servers storage systems and high-performance network infrastructure.
  • Support InfiniBand high-speed Ethernet and other HPC networking technologies.
  • Support hardware installation maintenance upgrades and lifecycle activities.
  • Perform capacity planning based on utilization trends and future workload requirements.

Operations & Continuous Improvement
  • Perform system health checks monitoring and incident management.
  • Investigate outages perform root cause analysis and implement preventive actions.
  • Follow change management processes for system updates and deployments.
  • Maintain documentation covering configurations procedures incidents and best practices.
  • Provide reporting on system utilization incidents capacity and performance.

Required Qualifications
  • 7 years of Linux system administration experience preferably within RHEL environments.
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience managing HPC clusters and job schedulers such as LSF Slurm or PBS.
  • Experience supporting and integrating CAE applications within HPC environments.
  • Strong scripting skills using Bash Shell Perl or similar technologies.
  • Experience with OS deployment patch management and system automation.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise server hardware storage and networking.
  • Experience supporting CAE applications such as Ansys LS-DYNA Nastran or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with InfiniBand or other high-performance networking technologies.
  • Experience managing FlexLM RLM or similar software licensing systems.
  • Experience with automated Linux provisioning and configuration management.
  • Experience developing internal tools dashboards or web-based utilities.
  • Knowledge of PHP or similar web development technologies is a plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Linux and HPC administrator with strong experience supporting engineering and CAE environments. Strong candidates will have expertise in RHEL HPC schedulers CAE applications scripting licensing and infrastructure troubleshooting with the ability to maintain reliable production environments and automate repetitive operational tasks.

Work Schedule
Hybrid full-time contract position with standard business hours. Flexibility is required for scheduled maintenance windows and critical production issues. Occasional after-hours or weekend support may be required.
