Job Summary

Position Description:Position SummaryThe National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is a prestigious research and development organization that plays a vital role in the study of the universe. Associated Universities Inc. (AUI) is a nonprofit organization that manages and operates the NRAO under a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation. The Observatory is a hub for technological and scientific collaboration operating state-of-the-art radio telescope facilities for use by the international scientific community. The Observatory has been instrumental in the study of black holes galaxies and the early NRAO we are currently recruiting a Business Process Data Analyst. The Business Analyst supports organizational effectiveness by applying data analysis and process improvement techniques to inform decision-making and drive operational efficiency. This role develops analytical tools reports and documentation while collaborating cross-functionally to design implement and support solutions throughout the project position will be based in Charlottesville Virginia with the possibility of a hybrid schedule after successful onboarding and You Will be Doing:Using analytical methodologies and data analysis to develop and deploy tools including dashboards infographics reports and spreadsheet models to inform and support process documentation and project analyzing and recommending changes to departmental processes. Collecting and studying data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Creating reports flowcharts process maps and and preparing documentation training materials and communications supporting new processes. May deliver training to impacted business cross-functional activities and working sessions during project design and implementation phases including testing and evaluation. Performing maintenance and data verification across impacted systems including review and evaluation of period-ending financial miscellaneous user support as EnvironmentWork is mission-driven team-oriented and typically performed in an office setting within a research or development You Are:EducationBachelors degree in Finance Accounting Information Technology Data Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and prior experience required with an appropriate degree. While not required previous experience in a business office environment is preferredSkills and CompetenciesMust be highly organized and detail-oriented. Strong interpersonal skills to interact within a team but must also have the ability to work self-directed. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving knowledge of Excel and various software tools (SQL Power Query Cognos Analytics Python Power BI).Familiarity with general accounting concepts practices and procedures strongly employees must be authorized to work in the United States.
