Building Services Worker

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Maryland Park Service. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. A Building Services Worker is the full performance level of work in providing maintenancehousekeeping and general services for State buildings. Employees in this classification do notsupervise other in this classification receive general supervision from a Building ServicesSupervisor or other housekeeping supervisory position. Employees may be subject to call-inon a 24-hour basis. Employees in this classification may be assigned to day evening night orrotating shifts which may include weekends and holidays based on staffing needs. Employeesmay be exposed to noisy dirty and uncomfortable conditions such as extreme heat and coldtemperatures. The work may require the use of protective equipment such as gloves masksrespirators goggles back braces and safety shoes when performing maintenance may be required to work in confined spaces and at various heights and moveheavy Building Services Worker is differentiated from the Building Services Supervisor in thatthe Building Services Worker performs the full range of duties and responsibilities undergeneral supervision while the Building Services Worker Supervisor has supervisoryresponsibility for Building Services Workers.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Maryland Park Service is currently accepting applications for a Building Services Worker at the New Germany State Park Complex in Grantsville Maryland (Garrett County). This full performance level position will be responsible for providing maintenance housekeeping and general services for full-service cabins bath houses a lake house day use restrooms park offices and maintenance shop restrooms. Duties include cleaning state buildings and restrooms collecting trash and recyclable items replacing supplies and minor repairs to furniture.

Employees appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and therefore may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
