Building Official

The City of St. Joseph is seeking a Building Official to perform a variety of routine and technical tasks related to enforcing building and related codes. This role involves examining construction plans and conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances thereby protecting public health safety welfare and property. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.

This is a full-time salaried exempt position. In addition to a competitive salary the City offers a generous benefits package including a defined-benefit retirement plan.

Requirements:

• Must possess a valid Michigan Drivers License.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
• Building Official Registration under the State of Michigan Skilled Trades Act 407.

The starting annual salary is $80000.
