Builder Mobile (Platform), Ring

Ring builds the apps that millions of people open every day to check on their homes see whos at the door and stay connected to what matters. As a Builder on the App Platform team youll write the iOS and Android code that the rest of Rings mobile engineering organization depends on the SDKs frameworks and tooling that dozens of feature teams build on top of.

This is a role for someone who loves mobile development and wants to go deep whether thats modern Swift and Kotlin or React Native paired with strong native fundamentals using the latest platform APIs clean architecture and the kind of craftsmanship that holds up at the scale of tens of millions of users. Youll also work alongside engineers who are aggressively adopting AI across the development lifecycle and youll be expected to use those tools well not as a novelty but as a real lever to ship better software faster.

Key job responsibilities
You will:

- Build and maintain native iOS and/or Android platform components SDKs shared libraries architectural primitives and developer tooling used by feature teams across Ring
- Write high-quality well-tested code with performance reliability and maintainability in mind
- Use AI-powered development tools effectively across your day-to-day work: code generation test authoring code review debugging documentation and defect resolution
- Contribute to the evolution of Rings mobile architecture identifying friction points and proposing improvements
- Help maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines build systems and automated testing infrastructure for the mobile platform
- Partner with feature teams to ensure platform components are easy to adopt well-documented and fit their real-world needs
- Collaborate with backend product and UX partners to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences

A day in the life
As a Builder on the App Platform team you will:

- Ship iOS and Android code that powers features used by millions of customers
- Apply modern AI-assisted workflows to write test review and debug code more effectively
- Dig into performance memory and battery characteristics of the Ring app and find opportunities to make it better
- Work closely with feature teams as a platform partner helping them adopt new APIs debug tricky integration issues and ship with confidence
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews with experienced mobile engineers sharpening your craft

Rings App Platform team is the technical backbone of our mobile development organization. We own the cross-cutting concerns architecture tooling frameworks performance and developer experience that enable dozens of feature teams to ship high-quality software to tens of millions of users. Youll work closely with senior leadership in an organization intentionally designed to break down the corporate org-chart barriers that slow most companies down. Builders sit shoulder-to-shoulder with the leaders setting direction that leadership is hands-on actively reshaping how we think about AI in software development and shaped by a vision that has redefined what neighborhood safety looks like for communities around the world. Youll feel that influence directly in the pace the ambition and the access you have to the people steering the work.

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- 3 years of professional software development experience building mobile applications
- 3 years of native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java) development using modern tooling and architectural patterns or 3 years of production React Native (or comparable cross-platform) experience with working knowledge of the underlying native platforms
- Hands-on experience with modern UI frameworks (SwiftUI/UIKit Jetpack Compose or React Native) and modern concurrency patterns (Swift Concurrency Combine Coroutines async JS)
- Solid understanding of mobile fundamentals: app lifecycle memory and performance networking persistence and testing
- Experience writing and maintaining unit and UI tests and working within a CI/CD pipeline

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field
- Working knowledge of both iOS and Android platforms or experience bridging React Native with native modules
- Experience adopting AI-powered development tools (AI-assisted coding test generation code review debugging) in real production work
- Experience contributing to shared libraries SDKs or platform components used by other teams
- Experience with performance profiling and optimization on mobile devices
- Exposure to streaming video real-time communication (WebRTC HLS RTSP) or connected device protocols (Bluetooth local network)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
