Bereavement Coordinator

The Bereavement Coordinator is responsible in planning implementing andmaintaining a bereavement program to meet the needs of families/caregivers from Bristol Hospice for upto one (1) year following the death of the individual hospice patient

An Average Day:
(Includes but not limited to)

• Coordinate the assessment and delivery of grief counseling needs and services (one- on-one groups and ongoing follow-up) to ensure timely and appropriate services are provided tofamily/caregivers
• Plan for Bereavement Program development expansion and refinement through annualevaluation of services
• Provide bereavement support to hospice personnel coping with work related grief through one-on-one counseling supervision of interns providing one-on-one counseling and referral tocommunity resources
• Provide bereavement information and referral services to callers from the community
• Expand and maintain community resource list as needed
• Assist as needed in evaluating and planning services to meet hospice personnelsupport needs (i.e. yearly retreats weekly support groups)
• Function independently but seeks and accepts guidance from other members of theinterdisciplinary group or from members of the community
• Participate in hospice activities such as in-service education hospice personnelmeetings and relevant committees
• Advance professional knowledge and skills
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must possess a bachelors degree or equivalent specialized experience or theological degreefrom a college or university OR masters degree in social work with qualifications ofexperienced clinical grief counseling
• Must have experience with families/caregivers and patients through death/dying issues
