Virginia State University (VSU) a proud Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and Virginias premier public land-grant institution invites applications for part-time non-tenure track adjunct faculty appointments within the Office of Distance Education and Professional Studies to support the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) Program and its Applied Pathways Initiative.
The Office of Distance Education and Professional Studies is committed to expanding access to innovative flexible and workforce-aligned educational opportunities that support traditional adult military-affiliated transfer and non-traditional learners. Through interdisciplinary instruction and applied learning experiences the Applied Pathways Initiative bridges academic study with professional practice workforce readiness leadership development and career advancement.
Minimum Qualifications
Commitment to serving diverse student populations and non-traditional learners.
Ability to effectively teach in online hybrid hyflex and/or face-to-face learning environments.
Experience with online instruction instructional technologies or Quality Matters standards (leans toward experience but is typically treated as a functional competency/skill in postings).
Demonstrated commitment to innovation inclusive teaching mentorship and applied learning practices.
*Virginia State University requires that faculty be appropriately credentialed to teach assigned courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. VSU demonstrates compliance with its Faculty Credentialing Policy #2301 for all applicable education experience licensure and certification requirements in the selection and hiring of its faculty.
Additional Considerations
Prior teaching experience in a higher education environment is highly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g. Banner/Blackboard) with an ability to use technology to enhance the teaching and educational experience.
Demonstrated ability to assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
