Aviation Security Control Center (ASCC) Manager, Aviation Security Control Center

Amazon is looking for an experienced intelligence and security leader to join our Aviation Security Control Center (ASCC) in Erlanger KY. You will report to the Sr. ASCC Manager at Amazon Airs Network Control Center (NCC) and partner closely with NCC operations Global Security and AvSec field teams to enable positive security outcomes for Amazons aviation operations.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in intelligence analysis security operations risk management or critical incident management. You will lead and grow the intelligence and risk management programs within the ASCC driving real-time incident coordination during security events across Amazon Air Prime Air drone operations and Amazon Air Cargo. You will drive the identification analysis processing and distribution of finished intelligence products produce flash warnings and situation reports lead investigations into workplace violence incidents and apply risk management methodologies to assess emerging threats and mitigate security risks that directly impact the safety of Amazons global aviation network.
You will work across teams to define risk tolerance levels develop intelligence and risk program strategies mentor ASCC Specialists and drive cross-functional initiatives that improve the ASCCs security posture and operational effectiveness. Where the business problem and solution may not yet be defined you will deliver independently using your expertise to scope the work identify opportunities and recommend courses of action. This position requires shift work including nights weekends and holidays. You must make sound judgments under pressure handle sensitive information with discretion and operate autonomously as the senior individual on shift.

Key job responsibilities
You will be part of the ASCC team providing 24/7 security coverage for Amazons global aviation operations. You will lead the development and growth of the ASCCs intelligence and risk management programs driving cross-functional projects and partners to meet defined this role you must:
Support security incident response and provide guidance to field teams during crisis situations applying risk management methodologies to prevent or mitigate consequences of decisions that drive risk above tolerance levels
Support the intelligence program: identify analyze and process threat-related information from multiple open-source and proprietary platforms producing finished intelligence products that support decision-makers
Operate autonomously during your shift as the senior ASCC representative making go/no-go recommendations and clearing blockers without requiring escalation
Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism promoting a culture of compliance to security policies and regulations
Make sound timely judgments under pressure in fast-paced situations distinguishing between important and urgent matters and accelerating progress by driving timely decisions
Mentor and develop ASCC Specialists improving their skills judgment and ability to deliver independently
Work 10-hour shifts including nights weekends and holidays
You will also:
Gather and analyze threat-related intelligence from multiple open-source and proprietary platforms integrating incoming information with current intelligence and investigations
Assess the credibility and significance of incoming information and escalate or handle appropriately based on your expertise
Identify emerging security risks and develop mitigation strategies defining risk tolerance recommendations for partner teams based on data
Prepare all-source intelligence products including strategic threat assessments trend analyses and security incident reports; maintain accurate systematic records
Lead and support investigations into workplace violence incidents and security threats documenting findings and driving risk mitigation
Conduct vendor and customer vetting using intelligence platforms to assess risk and make recommendations based on your expertise in risk management best practices
Drive strategic initiatives for the ASCC and broader AvSec organization including developing new SOPs assessment frameworks reporting mechanisms and process improvements that optimize cross-team efficacy
Travel occasionally (less than 10% after initial training period)

The ideal candidate has proven experience supporting and growing intelligence risk or security programs. You will operate autonomously during your shifts making decisions and solving problems where the business problem and solution may not be fully defined. At the same time you must excel at cross-functional collaboration ensuring smooth shift handovers mentoring team members and communicating effectively with operational partners and senior leadership. The ability to balance independent judgment with strong teamwork and mentoring is essential in this role.
Eligibility Qualifications
Due to the sensitive nature of this role you must:
-Pass DHS TSA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection security screenings
-Qualify for unescorted Airport SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) access
-Have no history of DOT drug/alcohol violations or test refusals
-Pass pre-employment drug testing
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring sound judgment to protect Amazon Air personnel contractors and cargo. You may be subject to ongoing drug and alcohol testing as required by DOT regulations. You may need to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance for this role.


A day in the life
As an ASCC Manager youre on the front lines of Amazons global aviation security operations. No two days are the same but heres what you can expect:
Your shift starts with intelligence gathering. Youll scan open-source intelligence platforms for emerging threats; geopolitical unrest airspace closures civil unrest severe weather anything that could impact Amazon Air routes cargo operations or Prime Air drone sites across the globe.
Then the real-time work begins. A customer needs vetting for a high-value cargo shipment to Latin America; youll apply your knowledge of risk assessment techniques running them through our intelligence platforms checking for sanctions adverse media and business risks to evaluate and determine if the company should take on the shipment. A severe storm system is approaching a major hub; youll monitor conditions assess operational impacts and coordinate with flight operations teams. A workplace violence incident occurs at a gateway; youll conduct the investigation document findings clearly and prepare briefings for leadership.
Crisis response is where the stakes get high. When a security incident hits a suspicious item flagged during security screening a facility alarm a geopolitical event affecting flight routes; youre part of the coordinated response. Youll lead Mitigation Calls and Incident Rooms tracking action items documenting decisions and keeping stakeholders informed with real-time situation reports. Your analysis will inform go/no-go recommendations on flight routes.
Between incidents youre supporting strategic initiatives. Youll contribute to risk assessments and security evaluations. Youll develop standard operating procedures that will be used across the network. Youll analyze trends from past incidents to identify systemic issues and recommend improvements to global processes and procedures.
Collaboration is constant. Youll coordinate with our Amazon Air Network Control Center on operational responses. Youll communicate with site operational leaders and field personnel regarding security matters. Youll partner with international teams to support cargo expansion into new countries. Youll provide field security teams with intelligence products and operational guidance.

This isnt a typical security role. Youll collaborate across Amazons security organizations (GSOC Corporate Security Physical Security) and partner with external agencies including TSA FAA and international aviation authorities. Your analysis is critical to go/no-go decisions on flight routes. Youll brief senior leaders during active incidents. And youll help shape the future of aviation security at Amazon scale.

- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience working proactively and independently meeting deadlines and delivering on projects and tasks
- Experience in Incident Management Threat Management Corporate Investigations Law Enforcement Security Operations Crisis Management or a related field
- Experience in intelligence analysis critical incident management commercial aviation investigations or drone operations
- Ability to work on defined risk projects applying risk-management best practices and methodologies

- 3 years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
- Experience with research and investigation skills or equivalent
- Experience managing and coaching team members
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or experience in project management
- -5 years of experience in security intelligence or risk management roles
- -3 years working in or supporting a security intelligence or emergency operations center
- -Experience managing a risk or intelligence program with cross-team scope
- -Bachelors degree or equivalent coursework in Intelligence International Relations Political Science Criminal Justice Crisis Management or related field
- -Understanding of aviation security regulatory frameworks in the U.S. and globally
- -Air cargo operations experience (e.g. air carrier operations cargo logistics freight forwarding)
- -Military intelligence community law enforcement or geopolitical risk analysis experience
- -All-source intelligence and OSINT collection experience
- -Active U.S. Government Secret or Top Secret security clearance

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
