CAMPUS LOCATION: LaGrange

JOB SUMMARY

The instructor is responsible for all aspects of instruction for the Automotive Technology program and will teach both Automotive Technology courses and Electric Vehicle courses. This positions responsibilities relate to the day evening and online programs for traditional and dual-enrolled students.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Diploma in Automotive Technology Automotive-Electric Vehicle or related diploma/degree from an accredited post-secondary institution.

• Three (3) years of field experience. (Must include experience in Electric Vehicles

• Master ASE Certification xEV Level 1/2 Certificates or ASE eligible

• Valid Drivers License

Master ASE and xEV certificates are required within one (1) year of hire date.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• An associate degree in automotive technology or related field.

• Teaching experience at the postsecondary level

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

To be considered for the instructor position applicants must upload transcripts resumes and certifications with their application. Instructor pay is based on a 40-hour work week with 29 hours of course contact per week. All courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated. Courses are offered Monday through Thursday during both morning and evening hours. The campus location for this position is the LaGrange Campus.

• Special Position Notes: Master ASE and xEV certificates are required within one (1) year of hire date. This position will teach within the Automotive Technology program with courses that fall under the ASE Master Technician area as well as courses with an Electric Vehicle concentration. Documented dealership EV training may be considered.

INSTRUCTION

• Provides instruction in theory and practical applications of the discipline in accordance with academic state standards.

• Teaches face-to-face hybrid or on-campus as needed in accordance with college faculty loads.

• Instructs courses in a classroom/lab/clinic/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry.

• Utilizes current technology in the classroom/lab/clinic.

• Evaluate students progress in attaining goals and objectives.

• Grades all coursework in a timely manner.

• Meets with students staff members and other educators to discuss students instructional programs and other issues.

• Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline.

• Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.

• Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the discipline

• Attends professional development training workshops seminars and conferences

• Attends professional development training workshops seminars and conferences

SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY

• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline of the Automotive Technology program.

• Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order.

• Suggests new/updated technology to remain current with trends and developments within the field.

• Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.

• Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and always maintained.

CURRICULUM/STUDENT AND PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Develop program curriculum syllabi goals and objectives.

• Prepares lesson plans for instruction.

• Works collaboratively with faculty within the discipline to establish measure and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success and submits to the appropriate program chair/director.

• Submits reports and data with respect to accrediting bodies.

• Reviews and edits master course shells in the online learning platform as necessary

SUPPORTS PROGRAM DIVISION DEANS AND ASSOCIATE DEANS

• Requests and maintains supplies and equipment.

• Prepares budget requests.

• Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts.

• Serves on committees and project assignments as necessary.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional classroom and lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office classroom and lab equipment and technology.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk sit; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time instructional position. The workload is Monday-Friday day/evening hours. Weekends based on need.

All courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated. The Program Directors pay is based on a 40-hour work week with 20 hours of course contact per week. A minimum of 35 hours per week must be on campus.

TRAVEL
Traveling to other campuses for teaching assignments meetings training and professional development is required.
